Interloper crash
I played this game a lot of times and this is my third run of the game with the xen levels so it's not my first time with game crashes. I'm encountering a crash at the beginning of interloper when the first mind controlled vortigaunts show up, after I jump down and I'm about to kill the controllers the game crashes and I have to restart my PC in order to close the game. I tried creating multiple saves but it seems like they're all completely corrupted, I tried to change resolution and I lowered various visual settings, but it keeps happening. Last time this happened I just lowered the settings or created a new save but it's not working this time, maybe I should mention that I'm carring the hat (maybe there's a bug related to that?) any idea?

i have the same issue towards the end of interloper, I have turned off the 3 cables/power supply and have floated up the tube/cavern... just when I get to the top I crash...my FPS has dropped dramatically to less than 10FPS but I struggled through to this point and then crash!! with the Error ED_alloc coming up... now my saves wont load and I am pretty much stuck and have been unable to complete the game... which has been brilliant up until this point. Not Happy Jan !!! Need help please !!
I actually managed to continue the game by simply reloading the same save many times and it simply didn't crash after several tries. I'm actually about to finish the interloper chapter and I'm not getting any new crashes for now. I can say I noticed that in my previous run to fix the game stability I had to put the majority of settings on medium and NOT low or "potato" that was the issue last time so I suggest you to try putting the resolution on personalized and most of the visual settings on medium or low (but not potato) and try charge an older save.

I have an Alienware Area 51 R2 desktop with a gtx 960 and I could run the whole game great and I was having the time of my life until the end of Interloper. I played the whole game on high settings now I cant do a thing on potato and it was very sad. I was having such a good time now I don't know what to do.

Load an earlier save. Your save probably got corrupt.

In that case, please try starting the map from the console or start a new game on Interloper.

I have the exact same issue. As soon as the battle begins with the giant brain guys, it crashes. Every time.
I finished the game four days ago you guys, I had only one more crash on the final part of the ascension level and nothing more, when that happen you just have to reload an older save and hope it's gonna work. But yeah the worst one was the interloper one.

I appreciate the help but I just ended up moving on to the next level. I was literally at the very end of interloper anyway so nbd. It was one of my fav levels leading up to that point though. Everything about HL even the brain aliens in the other dimension strike me as something in the ballpark of possibility of whats real and its so scary all the implications of these enslaving monsters in another place.

This is my issue as well (see my current review..) and I think I might found something. If I use Windows task manager to set Affinity and use only 8 CPU threads instead of 16, the usual crash on the first sight of the flying brains did not happen. I had that crash _every_ time before, so this maybe has something to do with the bug.

As far as I am aware, no updates were issued since my last attempts. I had crash on that spot at least dozen times... I am just over the first Interloper session I managed to play through and quit the game on purpose :D

Was having exact same crash in Interloper when the Controllers first appear. Tried to load old save, still crashed. Reducing the affinity in windows task manager seems to have cured the issue for me as well, unless some other variable changed. Good luck Doc!

Try typing these commands on your launch options:

-mat_antialias 0 -mat_aaquality 0 +cl_csm_Enabled 0 +nr_shadow_active 0 +nr_shadow_quality 0 +np_active 0 +np_quality 0

I am having a crash in Interloper when I'm on the elevator. After the part where all of the floating head things are throwing toxic waste barrels at me and I kill them all off the elevator starts to go up and it crashes.

I finally got through and I am at the end of the game now at the final boss. It is only that small section that crashes once you get through that its fine.. so if you can manage to get through any way possible... it should be ok.

I actually got through it and found out that it only crashed when I was looking upwards as the elevator went up. If I looked forwards it was fine.
