Carrying the Cyanogen gas bottle teleport problem

I'm having some serious problems just getting this gas bottle to where I can teleport it to the machine, I'm in Xen, this part of the map has a deep pool with a pair of Ichthysours. You can get to the right side easily enough without going into deep water and push down a crystal to activate a teleport at the far end, there's a sonic dog when you get there to greet you. The aim is to get up onto the waterfall right above you but there's some problems doing it and keeping hold of the bottle.
If you carry it into the portal forward or backward you emerge without it on the other side and cannot move. Same thing happens no matter how you approach it.
If you throw it in first and go through sideways you can move on the other side but where did the bottle end up? I cannot find it anywhere. Even underwater.
On the couple of occasions I carried it through sideways and could move on the other side, I found the bottle at the bottom of the pool near the first teleport. It didn't go through.
You can't throw it any distance or I toss it up on one of the ledges and follow through the teleports.
I need to get this bottle through the map to obtain the, Post Mortem interval achievement and a couple of others.
Any help is appreciated.

If you get stuck with bottle under you can alt shotgun it or throw a grenade near you to cause enough of blast to not hurt you too bad but move the bottle

When this happened to me a while ago I just crowbarred it and got unstuck. Idk if it’s different now since that was bout a year ago

Before you teleport, quick save.

When you teleport and can't move you are actually standing on the bottle. Look down to verify. I finally got loose and found the bottle by dropping a satchel charge under me and detonating it. I had to try a few times because the bottle kept getting blown off the ledge, but it finally worked.
