Laser Immunity
So I played through the game and was able to finish Interloper without tripping lasers (I quicksave scummed to verify), did not get the achievement.

I looked at some guides detailing ways to cheese it, those did not seem to work either.

Is there some secret to triggering it besides just avoiding the lasers?

Please try typing ACHIEVEMENT_RESET BMS_LASER_IMMUNIZATION to the console to see if it helps you.

Also, quicksaving has a risk of invalidating the achievement. If you manually save before tripping over a laser and then quit your game if you get touched by a laser, it should still work if you re-load that save afterwards.

My clumsy ass touched the laser numerous times, but after EVERY SINGLE laser i would F6, if i touch the laser, I would simply F7 back, If not, I'd quick save again and press on tl finish this longass chapter...

Sigh... I've tried this so MANY times now with no luck...

I've opened the console and entered the achievement reset text. I've made NO SAVES whatsoever, just used autosaves. I've exited the game every time I accidentally died or touched a laser, relaunched, and loaded an autosave from the Campaign -> Load menu.

NOTHING works. I'm open to ANY further advice if anyone has it...

I know when I got the achievement I got it on a full run of the game, ie starting at "Inbound". Not just starting a new game at "Interloper". Don't know if that makes a difference, but who knows, it might.

Well, I've already done two full runs (pizza on the first, hat on the second) and had no luck on either. The first time I was quick saving, which I now know is not recommended. The latest run for the hat achievements involved resetting the achievement and just loading autosaves for Interloper. I really don't have the patience to try and speedrun the entire game a third time. I'll try a few more attempts from my Gonarch Lair manual save or new game starting at Interloper, I guess... :(

Have you tried doing without carrying the hat or pizza on a full run? Or at least maybe try starting at the last map of gonarchs lair

I just went through Interloper my first attempt avoiding the lasers carefully and no achievement.

Alright, I unlocked mine on my second attempt. The achievement popped as soon as I bounced up in that room with 8 jump pads in a circle. Don't have to play through the whole chapter it seems.

I really don't feel like I did much else different but here it is.

  • Started from the chapter selection for Interloper
  • Took extra caution to avoid the red laser walls too, just in case that effects it.
  • In that room you drop down and there's two lasers next to the fire. This room blows up soon after and the lasers disappear. Took extra caution in case somehow during the explosion I touched a laser or something. Who knows, just me being paranoid.
  • Loaded back saves through menu (manual or autosaves), not quick load.
  • Didn't use quick save or restart the game if I touched a laser.
  • Sped run some parts like when you're on the moving belt towards the bottom of the level shooting the red things to open up the consecutive blue walls while the flying things are attacking you. I just ignored them and kept moving to the next section to save time. Not that it really matters but yeah.

Three more attempts today and I finally got it!

The winning combination for me was:
- Launched Interloper from the chapter select.
- Immediately entered the achievement reset command via the console.
- Saved/loaded manual saves only through the campaign menu.
- I did not exit to desktop after the one time that I touched a laser.

50/50 complete! :)

Just going to bump this because I had a lot of issues with the achievement. I played though multiple times, I tried various suggestions (delete gamestate.txt, playing from start of chapter versus skipping to first laser level, etc etc) In the end, I had to:
1. Delete all saves
2. Uninstall, delete the remaining black mesa folder, and then reinstall
3. Do the reset achievement command at the main menu
4. Start a new game at Interloper
5. Play through without using quicksave/load
6. Avoid all lasers (including the moving platforms that have lasers until you shoot green pipe sections). Avoid green "tube leaks" in the green tube sections. Avoid regular fire/yellow flames (at the section where you chuck the grenade to blow the pipe).
7. I was able to load autosaves when I hit the lasers a few times, and I got it in the big jump pad room as you are meant to.

I think *something* must have got corrupted in my game files. All the stuff I was doing in step 6. I did in the prior playthroughs (maybe I messed up the first couple times, but not attempts 3,4,5.. >.<). It was only deleting all my saves / uninstalling / nuking the black mesa folder that seemed to do the trick.

Can someone share their save?

For anyone who's still having problems with this achievement, I believe there is a way to do this with cheats.

I do not condone doing this achievement like this unless you had trouble with it.

With that said, start a new game at Interloper and type sv_cheats 1; noclip; sv_cheats 0 to the console. Fly through the level transitions until you're before the final room with jump pads. Open your console again, type sv_cheats 1; noclip; sv_cheats 0 to the console, save your game manually and close your game entirely. Re-launch and load your save and proceed to the jump pad area. If done correctly, you should be able to unlock the achievement.
