Where are you stuck at?
Thanks.
You are not the first to be stuck here! No sweat. Hopefully, I understand where you are stuck at. You should have found a shotgun and other items lying around.
What you have to do is head through the flooded office and find the vent that will lead you forward.
Thanks for understanding.
(spoilers)
I got the shotgun but broke the crates in the security locker. Now I can see an open air vent above the doorway but I have nothing to stack to crawl out. What's weird is the loading bay down the ladder just outside the locker. Been down there and found nothing but there should be a way to open the opposing big doors. I'm going to keep trying.
Originaly, all doors would react with a sound that hint to the fact they are locked or blocked if they don't simply look like they're blocked or locked (red lights, debris, barricade ...).
And because the main and original way of progression is throgh a broken window, which is a first for many players, it is then normal for the OP to feel stuck as he/she expected it to be the main path. Especially since there was a scripted event.
I think that to make it more obvious that this is a dead end, a few more edits should be put in place. If you saved the guard, have him comment that you should head back to the offices to look for other survivors. Alternativelly, add some pickups like a battery and a flashlight near the vent in the flooded room so that people understand that it's an option.
The only thing I miss in this level is the box puzzle but i'm a weird platformer lover.
I realize this is contrarian to what you stated in the OP, but as I used to think like you and it was not worth it. A properly viewed walkthrough of a linear game doesn't spoil anything.
Yeah I started the office complex over and went back to where I got the shotgun. There were no crates to stank and in fact the the vent above the doorway was broken by a head crab dropping in.
Yeah it's no fun being stuck but I never used walk throughs in Half-Life and I don't want to use them in Black Mesa. I originally wanted to know If my game play got me stuck.
This is where you have to go. Let us know if you managed to get through!
Thanks for understanding.
