Residue Processing Conveyor Belt Room - cannot leave!

Playing Definitive Edition and now stuck in the Residue Processing Conveyor Belt Room and cannot leave! After a couple hours trying to go down auger towers etc, finally checked the web and discovered that the corrugated door on one of the conveyors should be open and the belt should be going towards it, not away! There are no buttons, levers, nothing that I can activate to change this. This version game has the large red valve in the control room that activates the door / platform, not the lever as in other versions. I tried blowing the door up - no good. I have a screen shot of what I am talking about, just need to get that up.
Has anyone else come across this? Is there something I am missing? Is this a known bug?
Any help would be appreciated.

Look at a definitive edition walkthrough first. Reload an older save if you are still getting issues.
