What happened to the Training Facility map???

After being disappointed by some OST changes (especially in the credits), I wanted to see if they once again replaced a good song for another (talking about the BM theme that used to play in the intro of the training facility map) and noticed that map was gone from the game.

Soooo, why do they keep making bad decisions? Why did they remove such a good map from the game?

The Hazard Course was required in 1998 because the Half Life introduced new movement methods. Fast forward 20 years later and Black Mesa didn’t include it, whodathunkit.

When you make your version of Half Life then you can make all the “right” choices. Please let us know when it will be done.

Okay, you're one of THOSE guys...

See, people didn't like that map because they needed a tutorial, people liked this remastered map because it had charm, it was canon and you can track how fast you can complete it at the end.

I don't need to make my own version of Half Life to prove my point. I always despise people who say "why don't you do your own version then?" instead of trying to comprehend that people can simply have opinions while not having any coding/texturing/etc skills. It's a shame the map is gone, it was removed for no reason, and you're just sitting there being as ignorant as you can be, simply because you don't care about it, well guess what... some people do.

You don't need to be a chef to know when a restaurant serves you terrible food. This analogy of 'You do it then' is always a terrible argument.

People can be disappointed and share criticism without being an expert on what they're critiquing. The Hazard Course was a canon part of Half Life 1, so naturally some people are sad that it is gone.

What's the point of having hazard course if we have in-game tutorials like all other games nowadays? Besides, don't lie, you know how to play this game, what would you need that for ? It wasn't created for the sake of lore alone, it was created for fresh players who were new to the first person shooters genre.

My response to that senseless argument is the same i've used for the other guy above:
"People didn't like that map because they needed a tutorial, people liked this remastered map because it had charm, it was canon and you can track how fast you can complete it at the end."

Also, what makes you think new people won't come playing this game first anyway? It's actually more likely than you may think, considering Half Life is decades old and Black Mesa is pretty much a modernized version of the same game.

It never makes sense to remove a feature that was finished and people enjoyed just because some people like you don't care about it. Keeping the game as big as it can be only provides more benefits.

The hazard course was in the original game to teach people the basic mechanics of maneuvering the player thru keyboard functions. Sure, it expanded a bit for some folks as a bit of side gaming fun, however the dev team found zero reason to create a map for a purpose that no longer existed. Most fans are actually glad they spent their time making the GAME and not the tutorial. This is not to say the hazard course is a waist of time. Far from it, and I for one am glad there IS a mod out there that took this on. It simply would have not been a big bang for the buck for the Black Mesa game.

Now you're just being pathetic and adding NOTHING to the thread. Read what Harry101UK said, he did a good job explaining something to someone as thick headed as you.

Here's the problem though, the map was already created and it was part of the game for a while, burt then THE MAP WAS REMOVED. I would understand your point of view if the map had to be created from scratch, it wouldn't be worth it, but we're talking about a removed feature that plenty of people enjoyed, all they needed to do was keeping the map in the game.

@Zeron
Black Mesa is a re-imagining of Half Life.
Steam still sells the original Half Life so you are in luck.
Other groups are working on the Hazard Course as a workshop mod, once again you are in luck.

Any on other comment on the subject is moot because it won't be added to the base game.

The training course was never built by Crowbar Collective, so I dont know what you are talking about.

They didn't remove it from the game, since the hazard course was never part of the game.

You're missing the point on purpose, so I won't be reponding to you again since i'm clearly just wasting my time.

Whether it was build by them or not, it had professional VOs that matched the same quality of the remake and it was part of the game for quite some time. They removed the map for no reason.

I'm quite positive I haven't installed a mod for this game ever and I recall playing that map.

Must be the Mandela Effect from when I played the mod version of Black Mesa, maybe I did install the mod and somehow though it was part of the game after some time. Still doesn't change the fact some of the replies that i've got in this thread are ridiculous.

Anyway, that clears everything up, it was never part of the game so there's no reason to continue discussing this. My mistake.
