The amount of time it took you to type your complaint, you could have just sat through a very purposeful narrative intro and let that propel you through the game.
I'd say that is better than some introductions or cutscenes from other games I've played. It's 10 minutes that you have to sit through once (less if you don't mind popping in a few console commands), and it's recreating the most iconic bit of Half-Life, which was the goal of this project to begin with, over 15 years ago.
Has any of you played a game with a younger person sitting next to you and told you "why are you not doing anything?" when you're just thinking and taking your time?
Edit: ♥♥♥♥ even Fallout 4 at least had some world building because you got to SEE what the world looked like BEFORE the bombs dropped, you always heard about it through audio logs as well as seen what it was like in simulators but to physically BE there during that isn't the same hearing it from an audio file or simulator.
in your instance, pick chapter 2
So is adderall.
