Do you enjoy doing the achievements?
It can be annoying to do achievements like bring a hat/pizza from a chapter till the end. Also, bring a gas canister from Xen to Gonarch's lair (thankfully there's a teleporter).

It feels quite tiring if doing those achievements during the first playthrough as you don't know what happen next like you may lose those items off the map and you need to reload the game.

I feel silly for reload my save as I thought the pizza achievement was bugged as I put it into the giant red portal and then myself to Nihilanth chapter. In fact, the achievement pops up after you defeat Nihilanth.

I absolutely despised the purple hat achievements though. Couldn't leave the damn thing alone 80% of the time because it would roll off into some inaccessible area or fall off a high point and I'd have to reload/backtrack to grab it again. My "favorite" highlights were trying to get it up through the rocket silo, climbing the ladders in Surface Tension (well, climbing ladders in general were annoying, but that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ cliffside was something else), playing with the teleporters in the Lambda Core, and having to abuse the absolute crap out of quicksaves during Interloper because Controllers would continuously blast the hat into the abyss if it didn't roll off on its own.

Currently doing the Pizza achievement and will have to use console commands to get "Xen when" since it's bugged, and Surface Tension was equally annoying as with the hat (perhaps more so). However, it doesn't roll off into inaccessible areas so it shouldn't be nearly as problematic until the last stretch of Interloper.

Every other achievement wasn't too bad; in fact, most were pretty easy and I only needed a guide for ones like Prolific Popper or the research team corpses in Gonarch's Lair. I felt there could've been more or better achievements though. Would've loved to see achievements for these:

  • Saving the scientist from the Tentacles in Blast Pit and/or the security guard from the alien grunt in Surface Tension (I know they are scripted to die but both look like they could be saved with quick thinking; might be worth rescripting them to be saveable).
  • Sparing the Gargantua at the end of Surface Tension.
  • Completing Black Mesa on Black Mesa difficulty and Hard difficulty respectively (though with the ability to pick any of the chapters to start on, I can see why these may not be added).
  • Feed a Snark to a Barnacle. Actually, can you even do that?
  • Spot G-Man every time he appears (possibly requiring the zoom function on the suit to work).
  • Avoid taking any damage from the Xen trees.

Edit: Finally finished the Pizza ending. Overall it wasn't as annoying as the purple hat, though pretty much anything involving climbing ladders was just as big of a pain as the hat if not more so (looking at you Surface Tension). Lambda Core and Interloper were still just as annoying because the teleporters often got you stuck in the prop while the factory vents don't carry props with you (please update them to do so).

Despite that, it was much easier to manage than the hat even with the prop physics being more obnoxious. If you want my opinion on which alternative ending to go for first, I'd recommend the pizza.

Managed to get "Xen When" without using console though so that was nice. I guess it's not always bugged. Also, I've tested trying to feed Snarks to Barnacles and unfortunately it does not eat them. I guess they're too small. Oh well, worth a shot.

Who cares about achievements if you want to complete them then do so and if you find them silly or annoying then avoid them lol
No ones making you do them
some harder then others...so???

Somtimes... But i do wish Achievements should have different awards..
Such as ,if you earn a achievement , you get a small color skins for CSGO, TF2 or any other games items or mini points thing like gems or somthing like that and gets added in your inventory..
Cant you imagine that ? :)

I hated the purple hat achievement, but it was still nothing compared to the pizza box one. I absolutely loathed that one.
