Flashlight!
Hi, has anybody issues with the flashlight yet? I bought the game today and I came around with the fact that, at least in my PC, the game is too dark (I could barely see), even if I switch the bight to the maximun.

So I wanted to use the flashlight, but it seems to just illuminate at certain surfaces such as boxes or barrels, but not to walls and floor and any background.

It could be something with my computer, or it's the same for everyone?

It's a common bug that happens with unsupported hardware like iGPUs.

Nope, what could be going wrong with them? It's common to have some missing files in the instalation process or something? It seems to be everything in it's right place but not sure.

Well, do you have a discrete GPU?

Oh, crap, it must be that. Time to install it in another pc. Thanks!

I have same problem, but I have a separate GPU, an AMD RX 570. The flashlight seems very weak, and doesn't really illuminate much of anything.

I thought this was probably game design that way, for "atmosphere and immersion".

What's it supposed to look like?

Like here is a pretty dark room for example:

And then here is with the flashlight turned on. Can you even see the difference? There's barely little bit of light on the nearby wall and pipes only:

Do I have this bug too? Will verifying game files help with this?

after that it was fixed

it's just the 1st thing you should do to rule out corrupt files

Lumpty D,

I can hardly tell that you have the flashlight on, stairs are a hint different from what I saw and the pipes stand out more. It still doesn't look like you are shining a light on anything.

The flashlight should look like a normal light and see where you are pointing it. On my pc it looks like one of those old flashlights with D batteries...hehehe

Can you show example of what it looks like on yours?

Yeah, please.

Ha, in my computer It looks darker than Outlast, so it must be because of the iGPU.

Uhmmm...I am an idiot and I don't know how to screenshot and post.

If you come up to a wall or low ceiling in a corridor, shine your light and you should get that old style flashlight circle. Being closer to the surface and all.

It doesn't light up a room or anything.
