Game Won't Load - HELP

Ok, I give up. Can't get the game to load beyond the "Crowbar Collective" screen. Tried killing saves, reinstalling, can't find any mods to remove (maybe there are some, but I don't see them). Help? Anyone know what the hell is going on? I had nearly 40 hours until the recent updates, and now I can't even get into it to play v.1.

I made it to zen, before Gonarch chapter, I stopped playing for a bit. (real life distractions), then i fired up the game, i had to force the 1.0 update, and was told i can't use old saves, but i was able to go right into last parts of the game, checked out the new menu system, then was back to normal level-wise, couldn't use old saves. Then it locked up on me, couldn't stop the game, took a few minutes until i was able to exit steam, restart pc, log back in.

Seems a lot has changed, now there a 1.2 AND a 1.3 patch coming? Should i just wait until CC has finshed updating? when will that be? I see much has changed in BM maps as well. Now i see there is a seperate forum from this one we have to register??

No dice. Tried both. Still hung on the Crowbar. You can hear the game main menu sounds and if I mouse around I can hear some of the mouse over sounds, but I can't quit without task manager. Again, everything was fine before the last updates. Anyone else have any ideas?

Revert to the old menu.
Right-click the game in Steam, select "Properties", and in the General tab select "Set Launch Options". Type "-oldgameui" in the launch config.


Also, do you have ANY mods?

That did it. No mods, but definitely an issue loading the the new menu. Thanks!

Unfortunately for me it did not load. I have many MODS installed. BUT, do I need to uninstall ALL of them to get this updated version to work? Gawd, I hope not.

I had this same problem.
After turning off RivaTuner ( part of Atferburner for stats etc)
game loads in new UI too seamless and run as it should.
Old UI (-oldgameui) works with Riva but looks not the same as far as I can judge,
has 2008/TF2 vibe.

There might be outdated mods that might be causing the issue. Try typing +workshop_disable 1 on your launch option then launch the game to check.

DRAT! Nope, that didn't work.
I had tried the AMALGAM mode - which seemed to have messed up the colors, especially water. I have uninstalled that.

I had read in a discussion that the latest "update" doesn't work wit integrated video - - does that mean that anyone who has a laptop can'r play the game anymore?

Hello, try to type these commands on your launch options:

-mat_antialias 0 -mat_aaquality 0 -oldgameui +cl_csm_Enabled 0 +nr_shadow_active 0 +nr_shadow_quality 0 +np_active 0 +np_quality 0

Well,.... the splash screen stayed on longer, but still crashed back to Steam. DREAT. :-('
