Workshop addons not working
I have subscribed to several mods in the workshop but in-game it says that I have no addons currently installed. I restarted my game several times and tried searching for the vpk files but it seems that the addons haven't even been downloaded. There is literally no folder for Black Mesa in workshop/content.

If anybody knows how to fix this, please help. Otherwise I would have to use steam workshop downloader for every addon which is a tedious process.

God I hate customs folders. If really, It is NOT THE CREATOR'S FAULT OR THE MODS. It is actually valves, Because they had the whole thing planned out themselfs. Files in the custom folder tell the engine which files to prioritize over the base game. Source's loading system was written in 1997. It's very slow in the modern day. With the adoption of Steampipe, all subsequent branches of Source have problems figuring out which files to prioritize if there's too much to load at once. This is the reason that Source 2 uses a heirarchy based loading system; the problems that we see happening with Black Mesa.

But, later version of TF2 have the same issues, as well as Portal 2 and, even CS:GO.
And Please NOTE: Now that we've got HL:A/Source 2, Valve will no longer use Source 1 or Goldsrc.

Do not subscribe to ANY workshop items because the modders who made them have not had time to make sure they work with the new game engine.

Report the issue on the mods workshop page.

If the in-game workshop is still not working? Use the web based version instead.

You do understand what the threadstarter is talking about? Until then ... let the others discuss this issue, thanks.

If no workshop item is downloaded from none of the 35423 thousqand items in the workshop ... shall he report it to all 35000 authors just for getting the answer 35423 times that maybe the workshop downloading in the main game is broken ?

Testing it tommorow to report back.

Mods that aren't affected with the new update works, but it just doesn't show up in the "installed" section in the steam workshop tab. It seems like an issue in the game's end, not the mods.

Try testing the mod in-game, if it's installed correctly it should be applied.

People who are claiming that it's the mods fault and mods will never work unless mod updates itself, are blatantly lying and spreading misinformation. So just ignore them. Mods in workshop DO work, it just doesn't show up in the installed tab.

The menu is for custom campaigns and maps, which should be updated by authors to provide required metadata in order to show up.
Void-995 Mar 8, 2020 @ 11:19am
Not to mention that a lot of mods should be updated with what is in version 1.0 in order to work correctly. A lot was changed with release.

So we are supposed to ignore the DEVELOPER of the game or you.

I'll reply nontherless because your rhetorical question is wrong.

I do admit how I worded things might sounded misleading (just like the menu, that's apparently is only for campaigns and maps, and not for other mods. Which is just confusing some people like people in this thread, couldn't they add something like "custom campaigns" if that's the case?). Yes you do need to update your mod to show up in the list, however what I said still stands.

Mods that aren't affected by the update, DO still work, I've tried it myself, it works fine. Unlike you who claimed to not to subscribe to ANY mods, because they will never work unless the mods update.

Even your dear "developer" made the same point as I did. "Mods that are affected with the new update will not work and it needs to be updated". If you use your brain, it also means that mods that aren't affected with the new update, WILL work, which was my first point and I said many times, that I tried it myself and it works. If you want to "white knight" your developer, you should consider actually reading and comprehending what they are saying.

And you'll reply with mispellings, i get it.

For your edumacation: This is a troubleshooting tool, we are not here to figure out what mod is causing a problem. We are here to tell the person with the problem how to fix it. And if that fix involves uninstalling a broken mod, so be it.

Once again, from a developer and not you or me.

Well, unless if the addon is broken or outdated you should try asking the creator by any chances. But are putting the addon files in the customs folder?
