Can you show me a screenshot of how it looks for you? Thanks.

Does the flashlight work ok in other areas?

I'm having the exact same issue. The flashlight seems to be "absorbed", for lack of a better word, by most of the level geometry, only showing up on some objects and entities.

no, same result

Note: I've tried fiddling with every graphics option the game has, and none seem to affect this. Also, some objects/terrain are either missing a texture or are really getting messed up by the lighting glitch, as they're pitch black.

If you hear a noise when you press F to activate the flashlight but no light appears, then you need to do this;

Here is how to fix the flashlight.

Add these commands to game launch options:

-force_vendor_id 0x10DE -force_device_id 0x1180 -dxlevel 95

Remove "-dxlevel 95" after you close the game or your settings will reset every time you run the game.

Here's how to add commands to the launch options
Right-click on the game title under the Library in Steam and select Properties.
Under the General tab click the Set launch options ... button.
Enter the launch options you wish to apply (be sure to separate each code with a space) and click OK.
Close the game's Properties window and launch the game.

One question tho: You said "Remove "-dxlevel 95" after you close the game or your settings will reset every time you run the game." Do I need to add it back in when booting back up, or is this basically a one-off thing?

It is a one time deal.
If you leave it in it resets your graphics every time you run the game. That's why you take it out after the first successful run.

That's good to know. I'm glad whatever corruption was in the games files has now been corrected.
