Frequent loading screens when playing through the first level
This is my first time playing Black Mesa and I'm getting frequent loading screens playing through the first level. I've just made it to the part where you are going through the sewers after fighting the first alien slave and I've had over half a dozen loading screens.

Is this normal or is something weird going on?

Edit - as per the dev post, this appears to be normal. I'd never played the original Half-Life so didn't realise that this is how the Source engine is.

The game has to load in new maps once in a while, and this can take a little bit of time. If you have a different problem, like getting loading screens when you shouldn't, or getting multiple back to back loading screens, please explain your issue in more detail.

Guess you never played the original Half-Life eh?

Install the game onto a fast-paced SSD and you will reduce the time these annoyances take.
Unfortunately this is how Source Engine worked in forever.

Black Mesa barely has any loading screens. If you played the original Half-Life, you will find there were way more loading screens, due to technology limitations. So no, Black Mesa doesn't have frequent loading screens.

At least, somebody made the effort to search for that thread :P
I'm locking this as there's no fix for loading screens as Chon said.
