'Xen when' How?

Has anyone been able to get the 'Xen when' achievement? It doesn't work for me. I just run around forever until I run out of ammo and the portal never changes. I'm running the Beta 3 final 1.0 release with no mods.

Edit: I was able to finally get the achievement by following the instructions marked as an answer, with a slightly modified method. I did not need to enable the cheats before getting to the point when the scientist says,
"It's ready! You must go! Now!"

I then opened the console with the tilde key ~ and put the following text all on one line:

sv_cheats 1; ent_fire sequence_timer_portalfail enable; sv_cheats 0

After a few more seconds the portal exploded and I got the achievement without having to save or reload anything.

Don't jump into the beam to go to Xen and let it timeout. The achievement should pop. I think it took less than 2-3 mins after the initial announcement.

I got it when I jumped through the first time. You're supposed to idle in there until you get a time over to get it normally. Happens a bit after the grunts spawn in.

After a while of not jumping into the portal, the room will turn blue. After a while longer, the portal will briefly expand before the screen turns white and you die. The achievement should unlock then.

Nothing happens even running around for 5 minutes after portal is ready

strange, sounds like something else might be going on. all I did was load map bm_c3a2h and run around with a crowbar for a couple mins until xen timed out and like terra-bite said everything turns white and you die.

Exactly what I expected, but didn’t work when I tried going through complete chapter neither when loading the map, validating content also didn’t help

Same here, have tried starting from bm_c3a2h and also starting from Lambda Core chapter... end result is the portal remains open forever (or for at least 10 minutes, which is about as long as I can last killing the respawning aliens) and never blows up. Definitely not in 1 minute like the video.

I've also tried backing up and deleting gamestate.txt from the bms directory of local files. That also doesn't make a difference.

Same here. Tried multiple times doing this achievement (before and after beta release) and nothing happends; after 30/40 seconds that the scientist tells you to jump into the portal, the screen stops shaking. As far as i've seen on videos is that the blue orb should expand and blow everything up giving you the achievement, but yeah, no luck.

So everyone with this problem do have the same problem with the BIG update which was released today? It should be fixed in the big update.

I had this issue before today's update, and i tought they'd fixed it with beta release.
Looking around on various topics i noticed that people have different problems around the game. Hopefully there will be a major update.

the problem is, the orb for me expands and kills everybody, but achievement still doesn't unlock.
