Did Gabe Newell ever give his thoughts on this game?
This is a fan remake of the first half life, so curious if any of the devs from the original half life gave their thoughts on this remake.

It's on Steam and they are allowed to sell it.
Says a lot, no? :)

But yeah, would be interested in this too.

You will hear from Valve when the full mod gets released.
Trust me, I know everything.

Valve asked CC to sell on Steam
The team has visited Valve headquarters.
That says it all.

Black Mesa was Greenlit by the community, i.e. Valve could not stop them from getting on Steam even if they wanted too (without compromising the whole 'Community vote' system).

Valve could stop them, quite easily. They still own the Half Life brand, they can enforce that copyright whenever they want. This is why you don't see say a pokémon fangame on steam, it breaks copyright. But valve is nice about people using their IP, and they allow fans to make and sell (non-canon) derivative works, which is honestly awesome, more companies should do that.

Of course they could. In fact.. I don't know any other publisher that would allow something like this. It's like a fan made Zelda game in which Nintendo would let them sell it for profit. Pretty much any other developer would send a cease and desist for copyright infringement. But not Valve.

So is Black Mesa an official valve game or it's just a fangame. Did Valve get any of the money?

Black Mesa is not a Valve game. Valve did not make the game, Crowbar Collective made it.
Black Mesa is a game on the Steam store, and like any game Steam sells it is subject to the agreed upon percentage of each unit sold.

Steam gets a small cut of every sale, just like with every other game on the store.

Damn that's a huge percentage, Valve must have brick loads of cash

They are rolling in cash. Which is probably why we don't have HL3 or Episode 3 or whatever you want to call it.

CIG is rolling in cash. Which is probably why we don’t have Squadron 42 or Star Citizen or whatever you want to call it.
