is the rare specimen achievement broken?

i just spent the last two days of my free time bringing this damn hat all the way to lambda core and when i took it into the portal - nothing. i didn't get the achievement. what gives?

Did you check if you were connected to internet?
There are times when i am not connected the game do not give me the achievment.
Then i re-do it

well it clearly doesn't seeing as it literally doesn't work. the save works fine. I legitimately got the hat to the end of lambda core and it didn't register when I took it through the teleporter. if I spawned it in there's no reason why it would be any different.

Yes, it was broken for me too. But i have solve it and now i have all 25 archievements.

How? Go to properties of Black Mesa, tab Beta and choose the version with CU2 in it and after getting the rare specimen archievement you choose optout from Beta and go back to your original build. Your archievement will stay visible. (it is now not visible in Black Mesa game itself, right?)

Or

Wait for a patch.

Let us do this step for step, i guess you went back to the original build?

So the rare specimen archievement isnt visible at all in Black Mesa game, right? (i am not talking about Steam, but in the game itself you can view achievements too).

After installing the CU2 (around 4GB, it depends on how fast your connection is but it need time to download it and install it) the rare specimen achievement is visible now, right?

When jumping into the portal with the hat when the guy is telling you you need to jump (not before, not after) you dont see a neverending white screen, you see several colors and the space and then wake up at the floor in Xen chapter?

Still after this all you dont get the achievement?

i uninstalled everything and validated my game files, it still didn't work.

The Hat can lose its quaff property during play.

Today on the latest update, I have the exact same problem. Carried the purple hat aaaaall the way from Anomalous Materials into the Xen portal and nothing. Geez guys, what ever you break, don't break these very long achievements.

Edit: Apparently my purple hat lost its quaff property during my play. Not sure how that happened. I had to do a console hack with ent_setname quaff while looking on the hat, then the achievement trigered as I tossed the hat through the Xen portal
