MSI Afterburner/RTSS makes the game crash on Start.

Hi

I haven't played Black Mesa ever since the CSM update(or something like that).. and I decided to hop on again, see if Multiplayer is active.. but for some reason the game kept crashing for no reason..

after a lot of debugging and stuff.. it turns out to be MSI Afterburner and/or RivaTuner Statistics(installed with MSI Afterburner), closing MSI Afterburner makes the game work fine.. however as soon as I open MSI Afterburner, the game crashes to desktop.. Immediately.

I have never had such a bug with ANY other game.. it's ONLY Black Mesa, can you guys please look into it? also if it helps, the game didn't have this bug back then(CSM or whatever it was called).. so it must be something new?

System Specs(if it helps):
Core 2 Quad Q6700 @ 3.5GHz
5GBs of RAM
GTX 570

however as I said, game works fine after closing MSI Afterburner.. and this doesn't affect any other game.. so it's something with the Engine.

Then don't use RTSS, it is known as a game crasher, i have at least 7 games which crash if RTSS is installed.

I can understand the use of MSI afterburner with the low-end GTX 570
But once you have the desired performance boost, there's no need for RTSS anyway.

Unless you're constantly looking at temps and FPS instead of actually playing the game....

yeah I have to monitor temps a lot.. my PC ain't exactly cool.. and I tinker a lot with the CPU so it's very useful to me, and about MSI Afterburner, I'm not OCing the GPU.. but adjusting its fan curve through it, I don't OC it cause I can't even fully utilize the 570 cause of my CPU.

issue is, all of this was working pretty fine before, how come now it crashes? I played the full game on this exact same PC and through multiple runs, never crashed.. and last play through I did was with RTSS enabled and checking the stats literally throughout the game lol

maybe it's an older version of RTSS works better?

Had the same issue. Try turning off "stealth mode" in RTSS. worked for me.
