So, i've bought this game years ago and never got a change to play it, does it take too long to beat it?

Depends, if you like to explore, it can take hours to complete, like 6-10 hours.
If you just rush through, it can take off a few minutes and hours.

I would guess once Xen arrives that you could easily play anywhere form 15-20 hours.
