Fix hivehand (and gunplay in general)?
Does anyone else have a harder time than you would expect getting the hivehand to hit its target? Alien grunts seem to hit me around corners with it, and I remember in the original being able to fire it at about 40 degrees to my target and the hornets still seeking it out. In this version all of my missiles seem to fly past the target and flutter about aimlessly in the air until they collide with something, even if all of my shots are dead on with the crosshair. Back in the day I ran through the portal standoff with just the glock and the hivehand without taking damage, and got through most of Xen and interloper just using the hivehand. it just doesn't feel right to me.

I could say that about a few of the weapons, tbh. 30 rounds in the SMG clip just doesn't seem like enough to dish out the same firepower I could in goldsource. Freeman used to carry an arsenal and you might still find yourself running out of ammo at certain points, but now if I don't land 70% of shots I'm screwed. There seems to be a higher skill ceiling with this game, and fair enough, but the gunplay feels downgraded anymore, especially with the extreme flinching. If I get pegged with a shotgun pellet from across the battlefield it shouldn't cause my view to spas wildly and cause me to completely miss my shot. That makes sniping with the crossbow or .357 utterly infuriating.

Don't misunderstand, I've spent the last day and a half flying through the game for the third time in a week. I'm absolutely in love with it for the most part. It just seems to me that if an HECU grunt gets a shot off on me I'm going to lose 50% of my health in the fight before I can land enough hits to take him down... and that's just one soldier. Easy solution for the player is to take down the enemy before he gets a shot off, which I can do typically, but other times my shots seem to miss for no good reason, or a grenade throw seems particularly limp-wristed, or the hivehand can't seem to fire any hungry hornets that don't just want to suicide into the wall. The HEV suit seems to have been downgraded since '98. It left me feeling frustrated with the game's mechanics from time to time until I learned all of the workarounds and quirks to each gun and decided that SMG and Shotty quickswap is the best combination for most gunfights. And if you run out of rifle grenades (really, I only get 3?) just swap for regular grenades.

The bee gun needs to be reworked in my opinion. The thing's practically useless in Half-Life, and practically useless here, there was a short period where it did a fair amount of damage but it ended up being completely overpowered due to the homing feature. I think they should bring back the damage, make the bees slightly faster with the primary fire, but reduce their homing capability by a lot to compensate, making the bee gun a useful weapon, but one that requires some amount of skill to use.

The other guns feel fine though, (The crossbow bolts could move faster though. And the tau cannon could be a bit more impactful as well.) as long as you're managing to hit the head of whatever enemy you're fighting, anyways.
