Gonarch is ridiculous
I worked my way to (I beleive) the Gonarch's final map/area, with plenty of ammo for most everything, and take shelter in the cave that appears when it shows. I launch RPGs, energy weapons, explosives, and basically pump every round of ammo that I have into it. I doesn't go down. I turn and run out of the other end of the cave and am followed by a faster, more aggressive Gonarch that flings me into walls, where I drop down chasms unto my death.

This is on normal diffiuclty.

After a couple dozen tries, including bypassing that cave and trying different areas, only to be ran down by the Gonarch repeatedly, I came to a conclusion: This is not fun.

The Gonarch should not be able to soak round after round and not go down. It should not be able to chase you down no matter how fast you sprint or where you long jump to, and fling you to your death.

Half-Life was challenging, yes. But it was never something for only pro-gamers who would spend an hour working over boss fights on Normal difficulty.

That is not fun for most people.

Ya hes a little OP, this is the conclusion alot of people have said. Im sure once they get more feedback in theyll change it.

Yea, normal difficulty felt like hard difficulty to be honest.

Just did it on hard and it was a real pain in the the ass. Think they just need to tweak it a bit, cuz right now its a chore to kill.

After far too many tries, I made it to its final lair. No good places to hide. Baby crabs all over the place. Spits radiation like crazy. Only one refil drop IN THE VERY MIDDLE OF THE MAP. And it can one-hit-kill you 9/10 times.

This is not fun, and I gave up playing.

So, feedback to the devs: The start of the Gonarch was good. But at the point where you first come across the corpse in the HEV suit, and the Gonarch starts chasing you around... that's where you went wrong. It becomes invincible there, and again at the next place where it chases you into its final lair. Both locations are not fun, and the lair itself is also ridiculous. If I sound frustrated, it's because I am.

Those two chases and the lair were just badly wrought, and need re-thought. Consider that unless you already know what to do for the chases, you'll die a lot, as you try to actually fight it off, and it is faster than you, invincible, and flings you to your death constantly. The lair itself? Ridiculous.

Those three areas need a lot of fixing before a go-live, or you're going to get a lot of well justified negative feedback. The only thing that keeps me half in-check is that this is still beta. So... here's hoping you re-work the Gonarch chases and final fight. Thank you.

Its not fun.

The chases were not fun, its WAY too fast in comparison to the character. And the arbitrary walls without fail will take too many hits to pass while its chasing you, resulting in me getting one hit FLUNG out of the map.

The original half life had you hunting it down and letting it lead you through a TINY area, this map is freaking massive and confusing.

The combat is broken up wayyy to many times by water puzzles and other strange things.

Coupled with a heaping helping of ai bugs, glitches, and general silly nonsense, the gonarch's lair is NOT FUN. The opening battle is decent, everything else after that is not ok.

Im sorry if this comes off as a little harsh, but this is not ok.

The chase parts didnt work at all. You had to destroy some web while you were running from the gonarch. Mix that with how fast the gonarch is and you get bs difficulty. The "fights" with the gonarch were worse than the fight from 1998. (something went wrong there). And for some reason, instead of the gonarch spitting out maybe 7-10 baby crabs, it spits out like 20. I really hope the Nihilanth isnt this bs.

Possible improvements: Make the toxic swamp water non-toxic and make gonarch a little slower.

I found the toxic attack really annoying, especially on the last map with the Gonarch (I think this was intentional, but it really doesn't do anything except make the battle stagnate at that point), and I honestly found the entire Gonarch encounter not very fun, especially on all the bits between actually battling it. I love the model, and it's fun to fight in actual battles, however.

From what I remember, they had a lot of trouble making the Gonarch Encounter fun and worth it to play in the first place, so it kinda sucks to see that at one point it was even worse than it is now.

Overall, amazing experience but I agree, they need to reduce the damage and maybe even tone down on the number of headcrabs spawned from it.
