Bunnyhop bug... or feature? Big-ish discovery
Run in a straight line (always run), crouch jump and airstrafe very slowly either to the left or right while still holding crouch. Let your guy land and slide across the ground when crouched. Do not press the forward key while this is happening. You will still maintain momentum when sliding on the ground. Now that that is happening, airstrafe again to the left or right slowly when sliding, and you should be picking up a lot of speed.

Its important to time it right, as if you airstrafe too long when sliding across the ground you will stop to a complete halt. So as soon as you pick up speed (before grinding to a halt), jump again. The speed gain is from you airstrafing while sliding across the floor crouched, and you can get absolutely crazy speeds if chained right. The whole time you bhop you should preferably be crouched.

Now, Idk if this is a movement bug, but it is possible to perform some type of pseudo bunnyhopping and I don't mind if its not fixed in all honesty.

Hey devs, I'd like to hear is this intended or not.
Nevertheless this seems like a really nice way of having movement quirks that could be used for speedrunning.

Alright, after trying this out for a while, it seems like its just like this:
Always run
Crouch
Bhop
Airstrafe

yep, you pulled it off as per the instructions perfectly. As for why you stop on a dime so suddenly - i have not worked that through yet, but thanks for posting a video cause I was going to originally. The only problem is bhopping and longjump have to be used seperately, as trying to jump into a sliding crouch when using longjump is impossible, but if possible, the implications man...

So using this, can I then jump to rocks/landmasses that are floating around that I could never reach before?

It seems as if there is some sort of limit on it.

They don't as you lose velocity slowly enough if you crouch bhop without strafing meaning you can combine the two. I'd make another video on this however it is very difficult to achieve consistently
Edit: I've done it. Did 3 longjump bhops in a row now. Achieved 1600ups. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkP2b2S_9Gk

No, not really. You'd have to perform strafes that are too sharp to stay on the rock while gaining velocity

Oh and exercise caution when bunnyhopping around props. Under certain but unknown conditions, crouch sliding at high speeds on props can cause the entire game to crash.
