I'm not an expert but i have an insane amount of games and what seems for me to be off is the fact that they have far too perfect accuracy and the biggest thing is that theres almost no stun. No matter how good you are, unless you sneak up on them, you WILL take significant damage even if you shoot first and shoot more accurately. It doesn't feel difficult, it just feels cheap.
inb4 im a pleb/♥♥♥♥♥♥ HL1 had much more stun, and if the devs meant for a more tactical/slow paced approach, that requires leaning, a much better stealth system, and possibly ADS.
Post Xen I'd like to look into having them walk in their shots from in front of the player like in some other games.
Gordon isn't meant to run around, giving zero ♥♥♥♥♥ about the marines and just destroy everything (especially at higher difficulties). I have more of a problem with the assassins, but it just takes some well placed nades and shoulder peaking to beat them. Play it as if you were playing CSGO.
Can't wait for the Xen patch
except for the choppers and assassins because both of those have direct hitscan and a ♥♥♥♥ ton of damage they never miss and its retarded because it just turns into a dice roll on their pathway if they will run into you or not
I do agree that they should be aggressive and hard to beat. That is good.
But on occasion it feels like they are almost impossible to fool. Unless they are directly engaging aliens or scripted(?) to not care about you they will spot you as soon as they have a clear line of sight. You're not rewarded for tricking them because they just know. They will sometimes just keep on shooting towards where you are hiding in cases where they should have a real hard time telling. And when they enter a new area from for example a shopper they immediately know where to start firing. And if one of them has spotted you they all know exactly where you are.
That's what it feel like anyway.
