It could be anything from a spelling error in the xml to the wrong folder structure.
The Furnitre folder should contain a folder with your mod files in it. That included an xml, 3d model and ingame and workshop thumbnails.
The xml is very sensitive to spelling and spacing. Tabs not spaces, check quotes and commas etc.
The ingame thumbnail needs to be referenced in the xml and correctly named. Its size is 128x128 gif. The steam thumbnail is the only one that needs to be named Thumbnail and can be pretty big. I use 512x512 gif but I think it can go past 1024x1024.
If you upload your mod, or sent it to me on the software inc discord I can troubleshoot it for you if you still cant get it to work. I would start by posting your output log, or at least the specific error that will be obvious once you open the file.
Do you know how to get console working? You will need console commands to properly make and troubleshoot mods as well.
Lets hope we get it working before I finish my desk fan model lol I have it on the list of things to do as well :)
I created a sofa as my first mod it's working fine except that I cannot change the other parts, only the support can be changed and it is changing the color of the whole sofa.
Do I need to have a separate mess for the parts? Also does it require a specific furniture size and a required dimension of each part?
Thanks much in advance.
So you wanted to be able to color different parts of the sofa?
If thats the case, you need to uv map the object. If you are using blender I can tell you how step by step.
The way software inc makes custom colors ingame is super easy. You would uv map your object to specific spots on the uv map that correspond to the 3 variables in the xml.
Using softwareinc.coredumping.com/wiki/images/2/28/NewFurnUV.png image as your uv map image will help very much. Just separate the objects uv map to color variable you want to use, pack the uv map with the object, save, export and bobs your uncle
