I bought 2 extra fans for my case. currently running at 35°C usual temps where at 55 idle
I know this is an oldish thread. I know this isn't some shooter game or something but vsync is used to stop screen tearing not to stop your gpu overheating.
A game shouldn't need V-Sync forced on just to stop gpu's from overheating.
OP, it's something other than just this vsync option, clean you pc and check your fans. A lot of people don't use vsync in games because adds varying amount of mouse lag to games.
You will need A LOT of extra cooling to get them down to more comfortable values.
But yeah, just turn on v-sync and your problem should be solved. Or buy NVidia next time and your card will not go above 60 even if you leave v.sync off and don't have any extra cooling whatsoever ;-)
Correct, however if you GPU is prone to overheating, vsync will help. I rememeber hearing about Starcraft 2 burning out GPU's in the main menu because they forgot to enable VSync in the initial release.
Cities skylines is also made in Unity, might be an issue there.
