This game is making my GPU hot!
I am getting 100 fps max settings and my GPU is at 86°C :pyramideye:

No other game I have does this all my other games are recent and I run at max settings easy.

GPU: R7 260x @ 2GB GDDR5

Must be an issue with Radeon cards because i do not have any problems like that with my GTX 970.

My card is fine running other games which are more graphical for some reason this game makes it hot.

Turn on VSync. You are basically telling your GPU to kill itself trying to render as much as possible without it. Having VSync off is mostly for debugging purposes, I will disable it in the next update.

Yeah, if you card is running at 85c at any point for any reason there's something else going on. I can run furmark at max settings on my 980 and it only gets to 75 at most. Maybe move out of the desert? :cwat:

I have the same problem, it's one of the first times I actually hear the fans of my graphics card turning so fast. I don't have this problem with other games, and I always disable vsync in games (so I can benefit from G-sync).

I bought 2 extra fans for my case. currently running at 35°C usual temps where at 55 idle

If your card heats up that much, it means the cooling is insufficient. Though, 86 degrees is quite fine for short periods of time. If a game shoves some of the load over to the cpu, the gpu will not heat up as much, so this isn't a good comparison. Good intake and exhaust fans are a must, and updated drivers and Dust-Off are your friends.

I know this is an oldish thread. I know this isn't some shooter game or something but vsync is used to stop screen tearing not to stop your gpu overheating.

A game shouldn't need V-Sync forced on just to stop gpu's from overheating.

OP, it's something other than just this vsync option, clean you pc and check your fans. A lot of people don't use vsync in games because adds varying amount of mouse lag to games.

Vsync, or any kind of framerate limitation, will avoid using 100% of your GPU if your normaly framerate would be higher that the refresh rate of your monitor (for Vsync), or the set limit.

Your card should not overheat even at maximum usage.

TBH this sounds more like usual AMD temps. The 200 and 300 series DO run hot like crazy.
You will need A LOT of extra cooling to get them down to more comfortable values.

But yeah, just turn on v-sync and your problem should be solved. Or buy NVidia next time and your card will not go above 60 even if you leave v.sync off and don't have any extra cooling whatsoever ;-)

Happening to me, too. It's very strange.

The only other game I have that does this is Cities Skylines, I got no issues with other games.

Correct, however if you GPU is prone to overheating, vsync will help. I rememeber hearing about Starcraft 2 burning out GPU's in the main menu because they forgot to enable VSync in the initial release.

Cities skylines is also made in Unity, might be an issue there.
