Length of timeline
The game looks really interesting, and I was wondering how long the timeline streches in the game. I'm one of those players that uses ages to progress and to test out new stuff within the game, so I'm curious as to wether or not the game has an endless-ish gamemode, or if it stops in 2025 or something like that :)

And I'm of course not expecting new technology or new "stuff" to show up after a certain point.

The game should stop in the year 2147483647. All companies and product releases are simulated, so they are randomly generated and different on each playthrough. I've made no attempts to optimize this yet, so your computer will properly run out of RAM to hold product release info before you reach this year, though. There is currently some slow down at the end of each month after 50 years. So far it's been less than a tenth of a second of lag as the game churns through all releases and calculates sales and reputation, but I would expect that lag to get worse over time. This will be mitigated in the next couple of alpha releases.

You could also technically mod in as much technology as you wanted to keep it going for longer, and I also have plans to add furniture modding.

There is also the possibility for event driven scenarios, which end at a specific date if simulation is turned off. there are no event driven scenarios in the game right now, unless you make a mod for it.

Yeah... That ought to suffice :P Who knew that a tycoon-ish game would be the best reason for upgrading the pc next year.

Thanks for the quick answer :) The length of the game seems to suit me very nicely.

Hello Coredumping,

I’m following up on a previous discussion about the game’s performance during extended play sessions. In a 2015 update, it was mentioned that the game could experience slowdowns and increased RAM usage after about 50 years of in-game time, with future updates planned to address these issues.

Has this issue been resolved, or does it still persist in the game today? Is the game suitable for long-term players who enjoy extended playthroughs and have a large amount of software released in the history? Specifically, does the game continue to simulate every piece of software, even if it is no longer active or the company has gone bankrupt?

Thank you for your assistance.
