Can somebody explain how Marketing works?
It literally makes no sense to me. Previously, when I released games with no marketing, they entered a support phase and I was able to make £250k or so off each product. Then I tried marketing and nothing made sense anymore. The support phase never happens now, even when I dont market a product. Why is this?

Everytime I market a product, there is a "Net:" figure that goes down as my team work through it and grows at the start of each day (until it suddenly resets to £2k) . What is this about?

And whenever I market a product, it doesnt seem to sell and I end up making a more and more of a loss the longer I keep going with the campaign.

I've looked everywhere for an explanation of the Marketing/Support game mechanic and I cant find any explanation.

Please help!!

You get a support phase if you release a product with bugs.

At the beginning of the "day" you should notice increased income from sales. Money is spent through the "day" as the product gets marketed. This depends on what forms of marketing you are doing (you get to choose how to market when you assign marketing in manual mode). If the product is not generating revenue, you can always use net marketing which is free (aside from salary).

Thanks dude.

What kind of ratings does a product need to justify the higher end forms of marketing? I have been selecting all forms during my campaigns so far because all my products are rated as 'Outstanding/Great' & 'Popular' once they're released. Given that previous products of the same quality had made upwards of £250k without marketing, I assumed that the more forms of marketing the merrier as long as the product was good enough & popular enough.

My method on marketing which seems to work for me is to use just the net on everything except for consumer products, like games, OS, Virus Protection etc. On those I use the works early on . When sales decrease and the net is nearing 0 I cancel the job and restart the marketing as net only if it is a big program like an OS that has years of life. Smaller programs I cancel when the net is around a thousand so I don't over stress the marketing dept with tons of different jobs.

i did things in a way so its inposible for me to 'stress' my marketing department, i generally end up with 20 or so jobs active with no problems(wich they complete every day), eventually i end the jobs but every now and then i market all the good(or better) products i have wich seems to give a decent boost to money.
