Hosting Software help/suggestion

First i have to say that i'm running on an old save but all new stuff seems to be working.

I have a huge server and take up all hosting deals, then i decided i wanted to start digital distribution again, because i saw that now you need a software to start one. So i developed a digital distribution software and it's up and running.

Then i noticed that there was a hosting software, so i thought hm if i make that in-house i might be able to use it for my hosting server but no, so now i spent 5 years developing an OP hosting software that nobody can use.

In my logic it would be that:
Starting digital distribution needs digital distribution software - As it's currently in game.
Starting server hosting requires server hosting software - Not how it works now.

Correct me if i'm wrong or if this is just me having an old save.

For hosting deal you just provide hardware (server) , for digital distrubution platform it is something like Steam, where other companies can distribute their SW. From my experience Digital distribution start work 1990 + , because of internet..

Yes, but it would seem logical that server hosting software is used for hosting server, otherwise having it in-house gives nothing as you can't use it anywhere, atleast from my knowledge.

you can use it for providing platform for both your and other company.. i dont get your point, imo it is working as expected, just digital platform..

Yes, but it would seem logical that server hosting software is used for hosting server, otherwise having it in-house gives nothing as you can't use it anywhere, atleast from my knowledge.

It's server hosting software i'm talking about. Anyway whatever
