I asked Kenneth, the Dev, exactly the same question, here is the answer:

Hey, "Firmware Inc." trait, does it apply in terms of speed bonus/malus for design or development
or will it increase sales ?
Kenneth — 03/15/2023 3:16 PM
it increases work speed for design/development/update tasks"

thanks for the answer!

got any experience if its worth taking?

I have considered using it earlier, but after Kennet's answer, I don't find it improving my strategy in any significant way.

Speed bonuses can be acquired via several different ways, and taking into account that Firmware only applies to Console and Phone (joypads are simplest product, that can be done in one afternoon), I would rather have employees with Capacitator + Big Brain/Fast Learner, than Firmware + something else.

However, to avoid standard accusations about promoting my min-max strategy, I would say that a Founder with Visionary creativity and specialization in OS (Consoles and Phones are Operating System products), can be used as Lead Designer for hardware products.
Again, it's only speed bonus, I don't know how much of an impact has the full team of workers with Firmware doing Console, but I leave it to you to try out (and share here what you found out)

thanks.
im playing with compute mod, so kinda lot of hardwre to develop. but atm im still leaning towards capacitator i think, to get my people doping 10h shifts without freaking out. seems to be more effective than 3 shifts a 6h a day

3x6 ? why not 3x7h ?
02-09, 10-17, 18-01 or something like that
3x6h is really a waste of resources

Newest strategy talked about is two 10h shifts, both teams should have Capacitator trait, but separate them in 08-18 and 20-06. Of course, night shift having Night owl + Capacitator

3x6 because if i do 3x7 its annoying me with other team in office....
im trying the 2x10h but have to admit its kinda hard do find people with nightowl and capacitator since you can only search for one positive trait... somehow im ending up with 99% of people having modest trait.... ( doing + nightowl - slow eater/ nervous bladder / snail pace searches)
Why do people insist so much on having the teams in the same room anyways? It's an easy workaround to just make another room for the other team so you won't get the "too many teams" notification.

well considering buildings are the biggest money sink early its the most efficient way to reuse the desks. would be "dead" room otherwise if its not used

Did you read 3x7 shifts I have written ? :D
There is need for 1 hour in-between shifts for one team to leave and other to come in and start working.
So 02-09h
10-17h
18-01h
You have three shifts of 7h with 1h in between them for clearing out.

yes u giot that, i still had troubles with overlapping sometimes because people coming early/leaving late. 6h was just more convienient _:)

This sounds like you're employees travel too far from Bus or Metro station to their offices. It was a long time ago since the last "overlap" notification for me, however I realized now that I was building my office on the (large) plot where the Bus station is. Now, I build again on large plot, but right across Metro station.
If you have an overlap in 1 hour, I would suggest to monitor one employee from that office, to see why is he late.
