Pathways & More Patterns for Floor, Exterior and Interior
It would look astheticly good to have paths and they would work very well, you could have courtyards and paths from the parking lot.

It would be nice to have pathways.

But only if we have to hire people to maintain them. :D

You can make a fence 1x10 for example. Then put a gate in each end. Select the fence/room, and go to room materials. For floor select plain color and for fence select the lowest one which look more like a path edge. Then go to room colors and change the floor color to something path-like.

Now you got a 10 tile long and 1 tile wide path. Of course you can do any shape/length just as regular rooms.

Not very fast or convient workflow but you can make it look like you have paths already. You will have to make fences without a gates to cover the grass if you like to force the workers to not cross over it.

Edit: that said, having a more convient path tool would of course be welcome.

Real pathways sadly won't ever make it in. I've given it a lot of thought, but it's just not feasible as Software Inc. is no longer gridbased like The Sims and Prison Architect, so I can't easily force employees to prioritize certain paths or make them faster depending on where they are walking.

Excellent points. However, I feel it isn't a negative, but a positive: grid-based games like those mentioned can be constraining and you've removed a lot of that. :)

well yeah i think the fence way is just fine and you can even block paths to certain areas. maybe you can add another thing to room limit and have it be nobody. of course IT's and Rapair men should go anywhere. This way people can create their own custom paths. Just once you get passed the gameplay aspect and lean more toward asthetics creating more floor types will be extremely helpful. Also if i may suggest adding in multiple custom rooms. Cause i use the fence path as my roof, pathways, lawn, forested areas etc. So when i want a specific are i jsut right click and choose group 1,2 or 3.

They dont realy have to use the path its just you can fill up some space like in the grass world the grass infront of your door

Is there not an approach where you could give US the ability to force them to walk along certain routes?

Like, "priority line" tool that draws invisible priority lines for employees to use?

It would be nice if we could at least have the priority pathing tool - especially in combination with parking allocation. If I could allocate one parking lot to one department AND draw a priority path for them to follow to their office it would alleviate 90% of the stress of office design: will they actually take the right path? Are they going to wander through other offices?

Maybe we could even choose whether to have the pathways invisible or visible - like the red/blue/yellow lines you often see in hospitals etc.
