In the start menu or settings menu in game go to graphics tab and check the fullscreen box.

What I found is, go into settings - Graphics - Resolution - CHOOSE THE BEST RESOLUTION FOR YOUR MONITOR SIZE! - I chose 1920x1900 59Hz

You need to do both. Set the resolution AND pick full screen. If you set the resolution to 800x600 and then pick full screen, it will just expand that low resolution to the full screen. Instead, if you have a 1024x1920 monitor, set that resolution and then pick full screen.
