Skill sliders in the character creation menu
I haven't figured out yet the function of the skill sliders (the green ones at bottom left) in the character creation menu. They do not seem to influence neither
- the skill points you can allocate during character creation, nor
- the skill points you can aquire via learning during the game, nor
- the speed of learning during the game.

The only slight reference I found in the game is the "Manage roles" dialog in the "Manage teams" menu. There the color and width of the horizontal bars seem to correspond to slider positions. For instance, my character has a quite short and red bar for "Leader", although he is 100% skilled out. But I put his leadership skill slider to zero during character creation.

Therefore my questions:
(1) What is the use of the skill slider?
(2) What is the function of "Manage roles" dialog/display in the "Manage teams" menu?

Many thanks.

The skill slider affects the base skill of an employee. Base skill is basically if an employee can work in a role and how fast they can work in that role. So a programmer with bad base skill is generally super slow and will never reach the quality level you're looking for.

Manage roles is a feature that is rather outdated. It was useful in Alpha 10 when skills were individual bars and not based on knowledge with stars how it is now. You were able to restrict certain people from working on a feature if their skill was too low, but now it is not really needed anymore.

Thank you very much for your answer. Actually I like the manage roles function quite a bit, because there I can modify the roles of the complete team in one screen at once.

I have one further question concerning skills, though. Is there a way to see the base skill of employees (other than the manage roles function)?

Thanks.
In the normal employee window you can see it. Click on the employee and on the skill chart, left you can see it.
