Team will not debug
I have a team coding in alpha (Core). On release to beta the support team (Support) normally debug freeing the core team to develop next product. All works fine. Support can handle all support cases as priority over debugging. Works well for me. So ...

I created a new team of programmers to handle the bug fixing stage (Beta). They refuse to work on anything else except code they write themselves. WTF!

I assign them to the product (OS) currently being debugged by support. They say "No Work to do". Ok, I assign them to a contract - code only, which they do. On release they say "No work to do". They don't try to debug. I assign the contract beta to support and they find bugs obviously.

I give them (Beta) a product to code. Fine, completed nicely. On release, they find and fix many bugs, so they CAN bug-fix :)

I assign them to the same OS product that Support are happily still finding bugs on and the team say "No Work to do".

Why will this team work (and debug) their own code but claim there is no work in bug-fixing other teams code? They are all programmers, they have a workable room. They have a lead who takes them to meetings, they use the canteen and toilets. They seem like a nice bunch of lads and lasses but they are frustrating me with their refusal to do bug-fxing work assigned to them.

Does that team have a skill threshold? Maybe that's what's it, for example my beta teams don't have skill threshold and they don't encounter such issue.

Thanks.

Skill Threshold? I don't know where to look for that. Presumably on the team tab. I'll check it out

Sounds odd. I have three beta teams to cover a 24-hr period and have not encountered that. If they can do alpha, I don't think the skill threshold is the issue because alpha would be affected as well.

I think the problem was that the leader of the Beta group was not assigned any job except leader. The support teams leaders are also programmers.

So, I made the leader of the Beta group a programmer and now the rest of the team acts and work like the Support team.

Cunning coding :)

Look under HR/Manage Teams/Minimum-Specialization if the bar is in the black they will not work in said skills. This is great to ensure only those qualified at said level will work in said skill set.

Thanks, I had found that slider and saw the effect of preventing lower skilled from working, but I only found that it effected alpha phase.

I guess it might effect the ability to FIX bugs in beta phase? Although I got the team working properly by making the leader have the same assignment as the team, strangely.

I am going to use the minimum spec slider more cleverly now though as I can see its uses.

It's the most valuable training tool in the game; if you get your teams to 90 percent they will start putting out outstaning applications! Look for my guides for other tips...

Yeah, noticed same behavior, even when same team works in Beta stage. I can only guess, that it works as designed, like they can't find any bugs and need free beta testers user feedback to find those.
