Please Fix your heating issue;
I have a 1060; I have reported this issue before; V-Sync doesn't really change it; Your game is very low poly which is a nice design but there is no concieveable way I get so much heat on this game compared to AAA games

"GPU to kill itself trying to render as much as possible without it" doesnt happen in ANY other game, but it happens in this game.

A game shouldn't need V-Sync forced on just to stop gpu's from overheating. VSYNC isnt designed to stop games from abusing hardware. Its designed for screen tearing.

Core; You made this post acknowledging it was a problem in 2015. Its still not fixed.

Correct, however if you GPU is prone to overheating, vsync will help. I rememeber hearing about Starcraft 2 burning out GPU's in the main menu because they forgot to enable VSync in the initial release.

The only other game I have that does this is Cities Skylines, I got no issues with other games.
Cities skylines is also made in Unity, might be an issue there.

VSync helps with screen tearing, yes, it also forces your GPU to only render frames at a rate that your monitor can display them. In the 90s that might not have mattered, but when GPUs are so powerful they can render thousands of frames per second, it is important to rate limit. If your GPU is rendering at 1000 FPS and your monitor can only display 100 per second, you are throwing 900 frames out every second, but still processing each and every one of them, and since GPUs generate more heat the more push them, overheating is more likely. If you have good cooling, then that might not be a problem, but most people don't have adequate cooling to run their GPU at 100% all the time, just to render frames that won't actually be shown on their monitor.

All games that have the ability to render frames uncapped, on a system that doesn't have good cooling, have the ability to overheat the GPU. I once almost blew out a GPU rendering an empty blue screen because I hadn't capped the frame rate and the PC was old and dusty.

Running the game at ultra quality with uncapped FPS on my system maxes the GPU out at about 50 degrees, but I spent a lot of time building the PC to optimize cooling, so your milage may vary.

As for the detail of 3D models in the game, the amount of geometry on the screen won't matter much, since the post processing effects don't care about geometry, they care about pixels. If you have reflections, anti-aliasing, ambient occlusion and shadows maxed on 2 million pixels (multiplied by SSAA^2), your GPU will have to do the same amount of work no matter how little geometry is on screen, in most cases. If your GPU is running hot, turn off some post processing effects (start with More shadows), limit your FPS or improve the airflow in your computer case.

Finally, make sure that it is your GPU that is running hot, and that it is not just getting hot as a side effect of your CPU running hot, since that is the bottlenecking factor for Software Inc.

I've got a 1060 6Gb, no issue with mine either.

I had some games that using DirectX transferring some system RAM load into vRAM, that made my old 560 ti heating up/overheating much faster than other games that do not use it.
I don't know why your card heat up so fast since 1000 series shouldn't have heat problems with their abnormally fast fans.(I have 1050ti now)
Maybe vendor gave you the bad model of 1060? You should check whether your model has bad reviews.
It should be noticed that 900 series up cards are auto-overclocked now.
