With a previously created Office Software project, I can't assign them. And when creating a new Office Software project, I can't assign them in the Develop Software window.
You can however see subsidiary companies when assigning them to port software. I was able to assign my subsidiary and then they completed the port.
You can assign porting to a subsidiary from the "Port" command on the My Releases screen.
For assigning development work, if 1) you select a type of product and 2) a company in your subsidiary roster makes that product, it will change the buttons at the bottom of the Develop Software screen to include a dropdown where you can select the company name.
This is the only place I can find it. If you have already created the project and assigned it to an internal team, I don't see how you can assign to a subsidiary at that point.
Also... I'm noticing, once you've assigned the project to a subsidiary, I can't see what the release date would be or any kind of project status. Since it's been assigned under the Develop Software window, it's technically your product, so it doesn't show up under the Upcoming Releases window.
Anyone else playing around with this functionality?
At that point, the dialog pops up asking to "Takeover" (terminates the company, gives you all IP) or "Make Subsidiary" (stays separate, but can check 'Autonomous' or not, whether it will make its own products).
You have to own all the stocks issued by the company though. I used the debug menu to get $$$ for testing purposes.
1. You can actually see what a subsidiary is working on after you've created a new product for development and assigned it to them, as long as they're not marked as "Autonomous" (meaning they won't make their own products). It took a couple days/cycles to show up, but under the Details window for the company, it lists what products they're working on including the expected release date.
2. You can also delegate Support to any subsidiary company. From the Your Releases window, you click Support as usual and it shows up in the right-hand side of your screen with other in-house work, then you assign the company from the list of all your subsidiaries. It will show the support progress as it does for any in-house teams.
