I had thought of that and used a cheat to max out their stats, and it still did not work.
Im not sure if it's due to the mods i have:
- hardware mod - revamped
- anyfin software mod
and a few furniture/blueprints.
Also on the alpha 9 beta patch.
Honestly, since I don't use those mods, i wouldn't know. Have ypou tried (I know this sucks) playing without each mod respectively, and then without either of them, and reproduce the bug?
Top bar will tell you the skill aspect required to research and will turn blue - requires Designer skill.
Bottom bar will be blank, but is same skill and will turn green - requires coding skill.
It goes through three phases...Research (pretty quick), Testing (not quite as quick), and Applying for Patent (seems to take forever).
I can't tell if ther are any other requirements to research more efficiently, but I just throw anyone with design skills and coding skills at it. My current game (year 1980 start, 2000 cuirrent)I have five patents. Of course, I have not tried any mods yet.
I use crunch & highest priority, so it takes 1-2 months for 1 research
