arena, multiple bugs, crashes

cpu: intel core 2 quad (2.8 ghz, i think)
motherboard: asus p5q deluxe
ram: 4gb, ddr2 (i think), non-ecc

1:
one of my hirelings finished a battle in the arena. upon returning, i got a couple of error messages (see screenshot 1). additionally, the merchant that i hired was completely gone (i could still select him and look at him in the roster but his character was gone from the hub and i couldn't open his trade window). the default merchant was also gone but his hair was still floating in the air (see screenshot 2) and i was still able to click him and open his trade window. didn't try to purchase anything though.
first i wanted to just exit to see if that would fix anything, but pressing the escape button did not have any result. then i decided to just start a new match and see if maybe after finishing it, things would return to normal. the match never started though. the screen stayed black for a very long time and then the game crashed without any error messages.

(default merchant's hair can be seen floating in the air in the bottom left corner. the fact that my hired merchant has completely vanished without a trace should also be quite easy to see.)

restarting the game seems to have fixed it. both merchants are standing where they are supposed to be and everything seems to be back to normal.

got another bug. just when i started an elimination match, i got the error message "attatchment incomplete." unfortunately, i was unable to make a screenshot, because i entered the match with my manager and had to get rid of the error message as quickly as possible to prevent the risk of death. at first, it seemed to be inconsequential, as i could continue the fight normally, after getting rid of the error message. when i went on to the next fight (and the ones after that) the error did not appear again. after i won the elimination match though, the screen stayed black for a while and then the game crashed.

entered one of my hirelings into an arena match. upon starting the match, i recieved an error message saying "unknown application error." the match progressed normally but once my hireling won, the "exit" button did not appear and the escape button did not do anything either so i had no choice but to end the game using the task manager.

(look at the description of that axe. it just says "vest" which this axe clearly isn't, i think.)

already described this bug before, but was unable to put a screenshot up because i entered the fight with my manager. this time, i entered with one of my hirelings so i did have time to take a screenshot. results are also the same as before. error message came up as soon as the first elimination fight started, hireling got defeated in the second fight. until then, everything progressed normally. once the second fight was over and i clicked "exit" however, the screen just went black and i had to close the game via task manager.

same thing happened again. this time, i entered my hireling into a fray match. additionally, after she had won and i clicked exit, the game actually showed me an error message instead of just showing me a black screen. after i clicked on the error message, however, the screen stayed black as usual and, again, i had no option other than close the game via task manager.

the "loden bug" happened again. this time, however, the normal merchant stayed unaffected and loden's hair was also still visible. i was able to click on both merchants to bring up the trading window. at first, i was unable to rotate the camera, but that had somewhat fixed itself after i had open and closed each of the two trading windows. after that, i joined an elimination match with my manager, and another bug appeared where the arena was completely empty, neither my character nor my enemy had spawned in and i was unable to do anything except close the game via task manager (pressing the esc key had no effect).

(i didn't notice that there were more error messages hidden underneath the first one before i had clicked it away. additionally, i didn't realize that neither my manager nor his opponent had spawned in, at first, so i just wanted to get the screenshot taken as quickly as possible in order to prevent the risk of unneccessary death)

new one happened. this time, i went into an elimination match with my manager. everything was fine, absolutely nothing out of the ordinary. when i won all the fights and clicked "exit" though, the screen stayed black and i had to close the game via task manager. didn't get any error messages.

new bug, hirelings may duplicate when you try to start a skirmish match.

step 1: click on skirmish match

it happens at seemingly random times with no sure way of replicating it. however, if it happens once, it will keep happening every time when you select a skirmish match until you exit the game (not sure if exit to main menu is enough or if you have to completely exit the game). i have not tested what happens when joining arena because i spent quite some time on this save, don't have any backups and didn't want to risk messing anything up, so instead i just exited the game. after i restarted the game, everything seemed to be back to normal, but all available matches have changed to something different (not sure if this is a bug) and there is no longer any available skirmish match at or below adept so i couldn't immediately test if the duplication bug persists through a complete game-restart. after my next fight, an adept skirmish became available and when i clicked on it, my two hirelings were transferred correctly without any duplication, so it is certainly not a persistent bug.

Can you tell me if you're running OBS or perhaps some other recording / streaming software while experiencing these issues? Seems there may be a pattern there.

hireling duplication happened again, this time when i selected a novice tier beast match. didn't want to risk my hirelings life, but i found an inept tier skirmish which i entered with my manager and the duplicated hireling.

the hireling was also duplicated during the match so both hirelings were the same.

after the match ended, i was able to click exit and it seems like everything is now back to normal. still couldn't test if the bug persists through multiple matches without restarting the game because i immediately exited the game once the first match was finished in order to report my results here.

ps: i really should make a backup of my arena save if i want to continue doing stuff like that, lol. probably gonna do that right now.

I think the hireling duplication bug occurs after one of your team dies permanently. Does this make sense?

I've been stress testing arena with several hundred consecutive matches, and I've not run into any issues. Right now I'm not really any closer to finding out why some people seem to get these errors after doing several matches. It may be a driver issue, or perhaps there's something else they're doing that I haven't included in my testing.

both times my hireling "dalis" has been dublicated, and none of my hirelings have died between the two duplication events. i had two hirelings who died but that happened long before the duplications started.
my drivers should be up to date but i will try updating manually and then see if i encounter this again. of course, since i have, unfortunately, no idea how to reproduce it, it may take a while before i can come to a conclusion.

entered my hireling into a novice duel. when the match started, i got two or three error messages. after i clicked ok on each of them, i noticed that instead of my hireling, there was just a floating axe and shield (which was what she was using). i also think i noticed her get hit once or twice which would mean it was simply a graphical bug. the match progressed normally but after i clicked "exit" the screen stayed black and i had to close the game via task manager.

yeah, i crash on arena all the time. no overclock here. no recording software or anything like that. if it wasnt for the constant crashing at the worst moments, this game would be near perfect for what it is

sorry, which one of the bugs that i have mentioned are you referring to? there are multiple ones and none really match your description (i had a few moments where the game crashed and only showed a black screen but that only happened after i had finished a match and clicked exit)

hireling in a fray match. my hireling is in the top right corner of the screenshot, the last remaining opponent is in the bottom left. they were both just standing there, not doing anything, which forced me to forfeit the match.
