In the end I even got the skeletons and sword lady on level 3, though they took some more beating (and seperating most of all. Lots of benny hill running ^^). The fists are very powerful right now and due to the agility boost with the new update it's super easy to stay juuuuust out of reach and rush in after the enemy missed.
I consider myself capable at the game, but certainly not legendary. I frequently die in both arenas due to sloppy footwork and the best I managed to do in expert without armor was the 2H guy or with the pole-axe I once managed to get to the second to last round... exploiting my reach. So I would say it does not take an insane amount of skill to be deadly when bare handed.
Dear lord, plate gauntlets are going to destroy EVERYTHING.
