Tips on Golems?
So my character just got his head clonked by the big boss Golem and sent me all the way back to the portal. I tried several times to fight the normal golems, but always ended up unconscious. I had all the required stuff: good armor, war hammer or other high damage weapons, potions and some of the more special items. Even had the first two levels of Armor Maneuvering but I always seemed too slow to move and dodge their attacks.

I've tried using doors on them, but that didn't work out (tried it on the boss and he got stuck, glitched out and froze up the game and was almost stuck permanently before he got reset back a bit). I'd like to fight them 1v1 instead of 2 or more at a time (like the 3 Ribbons golems), but I can't seem to activate them just by whacking them repeatedly.

I just need tips on how to fight them properly or using some kind of method that can ensure a good rate of survival for me (and Derrin). I'd rather not lose 3-4 levels of progress again just cause some big metal boy clonked me the wrong way.

I have already seen that yes, but I was thinking more along the lines of not using spears and hoping they don't shove their way through the arch like they have in the past. I just feel a spear takes too long to deal any significant damage to them because they are encased in metal.

But thanks.

Get a pole hammer, find a smaller room to defend from (one that has a single door to open close) agro the golem and run to the room. Use over head swings and kill it. This is, in my opinion the best overall strategy. You might still take a good hit or 2 so have good armor.

This works for the silver Golems and Golden Gort :)
Additional question: Do golems regenerate all their health after they knock you out?

I’ve noticed that the golems return to their posts (even when locked in a room with me), but I don’t know if they retain any red health loss you may have dished out to them or if they just magically heal back to full.

Golems are super easy once you get a feel for it. Even 2 at once in open spaces. It helps to crouch under their horizontal swings or simply dodge out of the way. Keep cool! Using a long and blunt weapon helps too. I always liked using that bronze 2-handed mace from level 4(bit on the shorter side but gets the job done).

Golems are indeed much easier to fight when you know their patterns of attack. All you need is some space to maneuver and preferrably a longer weapon (there are a lot on that level, the great sword or the polehammer will do).

There are three variants of action for a golem (in all of them you shoud be retreating):
1) He does a thrust
2) He does an overhead
3) he does TWO side attacks in succession

The third patern is when you need to attack (the other two are too risky). Just after a golem finishes his second swing you should come closer and attack and then immediatly retreat before he starts to attack again. It is important NOT to block those side swings but to evade them, because if you block, a golem will return to his starting position, in which it is very risky to come near to him

Generally, the faster you are, the easier it is to fight them, therefore the greatsword is a good choice. If you feel more confident, you may use the polehammer, which will do more damage

Not only that but its weapon might become hooked on yours, and fling you 10 metres across the room.

Also ever tried ducking under their swings? If you can't get out of range in time, CROUCH. Their height tends to cause them to swing at your head, so if you can duck in time you can dodge the attack all together, just watch for the overhead.

Polehammer, wait until he does 2 horizontal strikes then attack the side where his weapon isn't.

The golem president is just a slightly larger normal golem. Keep backpedaling when he swings, then quickly get a swing or overhead on him with a long weapon. I like to use the polehammer for it's reach and damage. Surprisingly, i killed him first try doing that, so it's probably a good tactic.

Why is this game so fkn broken? Every time they KO me my weapon disappears. Also I can never seem to close the gap. They're too quick, even with all the armor maneuver skills.

Your weapon shouldn't dissapear, if you get KO'ed you drop your weapon on the floor. They're faster because they're double your size so 1 step for them is like 5 for you.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
