Because you're Mexican. Sandlot Games' Steam lineup has no prices for most of Steam's currencies, so lots of countries can't buy them. This will never change either because the company died long ago. You need to buy their games from somewhere else.

sound a little racist, but steam should have the option unless there is legal issues?? Also I question to buy it in other places because of course there places who insert trojan virus and other stuff.

Steam requires publishers to manually set their games' prices for each any every currency. Whenever they add a new one, all countries that use it will be unable to buy old games until their publishers set a new price for them. For example, just a year or two ago, Steam added the Australian Dollar, resulting in tons of Australians complaining about all the games they were rendered unable to buy until their publishers got around to setting a price.

This collection was added to Steam at a time when much fewer currencies were supported. Any currency that was added later can't be used to buy it anymore, since Sandlot Games closed its doors long ago and handed its assets over to companies who don't care about their lineup in any way.

The Mexican Peso is far from the only currency affected by this. Take a look at this list to see all the other currencies this collection has no price for: https://steamdb.info/app/36150/

As for other sites that carry these games, Shockwave and WildTangent are legitimate storefronts, though the former probably has a better reputation. They also sell the fifth game in the series, which isn't on Steam at all. They do use their own DRM, though.

I think i will watch how much it cost and see if there is also other games that i played in the past like that one about ships and merchandise and summoning genies to destroy ships dont remember the name but remember one of the sequels was in the travels from middle east to china is the silky road i think and one of the playable charcathers later was a dragon turned into camel XD. Also is sad when a company died or bankrupt long ago, and had some few interesting games and having fun with them.

You're talking about the Tradewinds series. Same developer, same currencies that can't buy the games here.

No, I don't think that it will work. There is no buy button for me either. I am in the United States of America.

Last I checked, Shockwave Games still sells the Westward games.

Yeah, Sandlot Games' lineup got completely delisted here. Probably an expired contract or something similar. Their games are unlikely to ever come back here either. Their last owner did absolutely nothing with their games for years before going bankrupt.

Okay, I'm American. I use USD. What is the issue with me getting the game, or maybe a better question is what currency do they accept?

That's no longer the current situation. Sandlot Games' lineup was completely delisted here. Nobody can buy it from Steam anymore.

I'm from Brazil, I thought the problem of not being able to download was because I didn't have my language available...

No, nobody can buy this game from here anymore. The region doesn't matter.

you should not want to buy this trough steam.
-this game was made for windows 98/XP

steam has dropped windows XP support
steam will soon drop windows 7 support the last windows with XP compability.

this won't run on any modern windows, and even if you'd own it, steam won't run on the older windows that let you install it.

still :
1 I wonder who owns the licence right now?
**with RockYou (the last owner) bankrupt in 2019, would that not imply their assets were sold off? or is that bankrupcy still pending? those are usualy closed in 6 months is it not?
-> if a compagny goes bankrupts their properties are auctioned off to the highest bidder, and than closed?
(who should one aproach if one were to want to make a bid to aquire the licence as is or mail a request for it to list it again?..)

2 who exactly recieves payment for purchases of this game as is?
it may not be sold here.. it is elsewhere... only the owner could.. so who is the money going to?
Dutchgamer1982 Oct 10, 2023 @ 12:48am
not entirely legal.. but I do remember that back in the days it was on BigFishGames... and each title on their page you could download as a free trial version.. (the full version but with a 2 hour play limit) and than.. with a simple hack make that a permanent version)
-full .exe files excisted too for download.. needed not even the bigfish site..
perhaps one of those old pirated copies is still around?

**if it's for sale than use that.. but if old games are nowhere obtainable for sale... than by all means use pirated copies.
The argument you are ripping the dev's work aint aplying if the dev is dead and there is no way to legally obtain said game.

-games are art and games should like books be kept available to the public.
if you are not using a copyright for like 10 years I believe..
that it looses it's legality..
