Randomized research rewards arent that great, no matter how you organize them.
I think between 8 and 10 in the evening (European time) otherwise tomorrow like the blog posted
Wait a minute. Did i read that right? This update will just change the way that "chests" drop you stuff?

The whole idea of research being randomized, in any way, is garbage.
Ok. Just tried a new game for a short time, to see how this research update was going. I think you're going (partially) in the wrong direction with this. It's probably in big part due to the printer / vehicle station engine being removed from the start (ouch!..).

I dont mind having more research to do. Is it fun...? hmm... maybe for new players, it can. But if i have to make kilometres by foot with my chests, just because i haven't found the vehicle station research early, it's going to be pretty boring pretty fast.
If you want to make things "more fun", you have to avoid the repetitivity, and it looks like you risk to go into a bad repetitive corner with this research thing.
(continuing) There's a balance to find here, and i think you've gone too hard with this patch :
only 2 modules to start, research going random and harder, no more hydrazine trade (which needed a clear nerf, and yes, it was absurd in the first place, but now you need to add some use for this hydrazine or it becomes a pretty useless ressource, unless you move from planet to planet every 2 days).

I think you have other ways to make the game harder AND funnier at the same time (which is probably the good direction).

Keeping faith, still an amazing game, with colossal potential! Keep the good work, guys!
Just started up a game with a friend, he went one way, i went another, and not being able to find the vehical bay, or printer, in nearly 15 researches, honestly really sucks. we're pretty much done with what would have been an amazing world if we could just... Get around a little. Vehical bay, if on research, should be garenteed by a certain number of researches, along with the printer. I'd say after 4, if you havn't gotten the printer, the 5th will have it, 10th will give you vehical bay. ;.; Please? I mean, we've gotten pretty much everything for vehicals BUT the bay.

I guess another option would be you need to find the bay before you can learn vehical related research.
I love not being able to craft suit batteries, oxygen tanks, or generators because RNGeezus decided that research should unlock things I can't even print first. Even more euphoric is the fact that the printer is being held hostage by RNGeezus too. :steamfacepalm:
I'm ok with the loss of the vehicle bay at the start, but Having the printer under the fate of RNG is a frequent brick wall, as it denies access to all of the various equipment that has been given instead of the blasted printer. Also, storage is a pain without the storage moduale (not big suprise).
DEAR DEVELOPERS,

Please roll back this change. It doesn't work and makes for a game that will very easily dead-end research wise. I understand what you're trying to do, but with the RNG nature of the research, players will end up chewing up the available research chances on tech they cannot use. Currently, I am stuck in a situation where, after two hours of play, I cannot build a vehicle platform without any new pods I can use to research for a chance at the vehicle platform. And I can't go to other planets to try all over with new pods.

One possible way to fix this is to lock every possible research away and only have the various platforms available. Once you research a platform, then the related tech is unlocked for research. For example, the rover, truck, lander, and shuttle are all locked until the vehicle platform comes up. Crain, winch, and drill head are locked until the smelter is unlocked. And even with the stuff unlocked, Research is still waited to the platforms.

RNG is a mistake. There are other ways you can make research chests that have already been researched more useful. Say for example in the old system, you could have made it so that once you research chest A, if you collect another chest A it will add say 10% towards research of another locked item. So you can either choose to go find new chests for 100% unlock, or collect more of the ones you already know and take longer (but still eventually) unlock something new. I really really wish games designers would STOP thinking that RNG = fun..... IT DOES NOT, IT IS FRUSTRATING FOR PLAYERS!
