Missing schematics on printers

Anyone know why I might be missing schematics on various printers? For example, I start a new game, and set up my starter pack, and all i can find on my medium printer is Exo request and Large Printer. I've reinstalled, reinstalled to a new location, verified files several times (sometimes it finds something missing and "fixes" it, but other times it does not, with no difference). Doesn't seem to matter whether I play a solo game or with other people--everyone else has their schematics. I've been playing this game for years and this only just started being a thing within the last week or so.

Any advice would be appreciated.

In case it matters, I also seem to be experiencing a bug where my direction keys jump items in various menus, and I end up clicking on the missed item to go back to it. Both issues popped up around the same time, so it's feasible they are related.

Did you solve this problem ? It's not clear from your question but perhaps you didn't know you have to research other schematics using a research chamber. Use the 'tab' key to see how much research you have to do to unlock each schematic.

I have not solved the problem though, admittedly, I haven't checked to see if recent patches have fixed it. Ty for your advice. I do know how to research schematics.

My problem was never with the research schematic library (other than the jump-item issue during selection, which I can work-around), but with the printers. I can research a new item--a medium solar array, for instance--and then not find it on the appropriate printer. Or any printer. The weird thing is that the absent schematics can be between starting schematics and more advanced schematics researched later. There'll just a "gap".

That sounds as if you have found a bug. I suspect that your savefile is somehow corrupt. If you start a new game from scratch you should not have the same problem.

Yeah...that didn't work when I tested it, back in January. It's a good idea, though. I haven't tried to figure it out for quite a while now. I'll give it another shot this weekend. I'll do another clean install of it, and see what happens.

Hey Vowels, the game updated today. If you're still experiencing this issue, would you be able to share a video clip of what you're experiencing?

The update apparently fixed the problem, which I still don't know the cause of. Weird.

I think the last time it happened, I might have had to wait on a patch, too, now that I think about it.

Still happens in the latest Rail update. Started a completely fresh solo game, plopped down my printer and printed a medium printer.

My Research Tab shows thing such as 'Tethers' and 'small generator' as Unlocked but the small printer only has:
Medium Printer
Oxygenator
Medium Platform A
Medium Storage
Rover Seat
Small Canister
Worklight

I can craft these items in my backpack but would have assumed them to show up for the 'small printer' I unlocked the recipe for. Given that it's not inherent that the backpack itself is a printer.

The small printer is not a version of the printer in your backpack. Things are printable only one one size of printer. If you can print something in your backpack, you can't print it in the small printer.

Think of the backpack printer as 'even smaller printer'.

Mostly true. There are some things that print in backpack or small printer, like packagers.

Wow. Okay, I was wrong. They changed the game by adding all the backpack blueprints on to the end of the small printer's list. Either it's a change, or I somehow magically missed it all the times I played the game.

Maybe it's a change. I've owned the game for a while but only started playing in December I think. It's not all items though. No tethers, terrain tool mods, many others. I'm not sure why some are included and others not. Maybe the ones that benefit from automation? I've used it for mass producing packagers and dynamite mostly.

I don't mind them being exclusive to one size of printer - especially with the bad display of one entry per page.
But if the research page literally says "Small Printer" then I kind of expect them to appear in the "Small Printer" :)

In a new adventure world you don't have to craft the items in your backpack because you get them through mission rewards so the backpack printer isn't really taught well enough to a new player.
