Local Dedicated Server can not connect
I am hosting a dedicated server from my home server on my LAN. I have everything setup correctly from what I can tell. (I have setup many dedicated servers locally)
The sever is up and running and even shows online in the server list when I am trying to connect but then I can not connect it fails. It would appear that this game is not allowing me to connect via LAN. Is this on purpose or is this a bug that will be fixed?

Maybe join the Astroneer Discord: https://discord.gg/astroneer
I would say this guide would help https://blog.astroneer.space/p/astroneer-dedicated-server-details/ There is a section on public IP that might be useful to know as well as other settings.

Thanks for the info. Issue has been addressed on the reddit as a bug, so hopefully they have a fix soon. If its not the bug then the DNS forwarding they are working on should resolve it in the future patch.
Still not fixed... My friend can join from Internet (outside my LAN) to my dedicated server on my LAN, but I cannot join my client to my own server on the same LAN. Cant direct connect to local IP of server. And no its not a firewall issue...
I can't connect to my own either. Ports forwarded. And it will just not show up for me. I also did not see anything about this being fixed in the patch notes, only in the post they had leading up to this patch.

So I have a private server as well, can connect just fine but I use the external IP even though I am on the same LAN as my server. Essentially looping back.
What are you putting in when you add the server to your server list in Astroneer?
If need be I would recommend opening your issue in a separate new discussion as more may see it that way and have answers. As per above bring it up to the discord channel may spark some ideas and help.

As per what I said to B.A.W_Killer. See above.

I use my internet IP, the same IP my friend uses to join, but my connection doesn't seem to loop back and connect. Very strange that this program wont let you direct connect from your own LAN. It seems they have put more effort into blocking the LAN side...
As of 7/4/2020 LAN based Dedicated servers still do not work :(
Server shows in the list but you can not connect.

Worked with Spyci on the Astro Discord and he solved my issue. Turns out the exe that you need to whiteliste in your fire wall is this: Astro\Binaries\Win64\AstroServer-Win64-Shipping.exe
Just Wish I Could Connect Via Dns Address Like DDNS.NET Instead Of IP Since It's Not Static

After hours of troubleshooting and scouring the internet for days for a solution, this has solved my issue. Thank you!
