and the cost of automation would be intense if we need to fuel it with hydrazine or something, but i'd absolutely prefer needing to put hydrazine into that thing over going to other planets myself, novus is just too cozy to leave
it's so annoying needing to visit atrox just to pick up my canisters full of methane and helium.
My ideal is like this - you can build one shipping link between two planets via the use of special rockets and platforms. If shipping to a main base planet, this would require a platform for each link. The multiple platform component resolves the logistics of rockets backing up and issues with timing. Plus it would look cool to have a hub of inbound and outbound ships.
The singular platform per inter-planet link then puts the requirement of rails into full effect. Auto extractors and automated transport haul the resources to the platform for processing/shipping. This network then expands as resources are exhausted.
