Oxygen filter has 80 seconds starting when you get oxygen from your backpack or gateway chamber, pausing when you takget oxygen from a vehicle/Base.

You can get more time of it in a tedious way, which is removing it from your backpack when your O² tank is full, and keep grab and throw while running.

Why not making on/off button for it?

Or just make it deplete at breathing rate when the backpack is full instead of having it run at full speed constantly.
