Unfortunately, that'd probably require them to design visuals and gameplay for interior spaces. While there were some rumblings of them working on that before Paul's death, I've seen nothing that leads me to believe they're still working on that, or anything substantial related to Astro.
Agreed! But that does make sense, as to why nothin too crazy has been goin on update wise. Regardless, I still enjoy the game, i wonder if modding will ever happen :thinking:
I think the best possible version of base building in Astroneer is an overhaul of the Shelter so we can add features onto the outside, similar to how SimCity 2013 allows us to place extras on the buildings. Maybe these extras allow us to do things like controlling a drone to scout ahead, unlock the ability to go into "planning mode" so we can plan the long-term development of a base out by placing holograms of buildings around.
as much as this would probably be a good idea there are a few problems.
problem 1: sometimes the holograms for this disappear (this is both multi and solo play)
problem 2: some people want a proper sort of base building system and not more of the same.
I mean I had an idea of just adding in a sort of platform that has a floor, 4 raised large platforms, 2 raised medium platforms per corner, and a sort of steel beam structure style for a box shape to give that "i have a proper base" feel. There are a lot of things that the devs could add to this game to make a LOT of people really happy but as some people have already said in other threads... it's like the devs have quit checking these places for any of the ACTUAL ideas that majority of players REALLY want and are just digging more into the cosmetic purchases, making things easier, and doing so many other things with the game that is making several people angry/upset and just as well making the game just laughable to play. (with the snails that they added in you can carry all of them on you and be a literal god. unkillable no matter what happens, and go where ever the heck you want.)
