keep inventory? would ruin the feel of the game and if you need you can use save manipulation. and more than a map compass that points to the closest eacon would be nice

I mod would be nice for that the devs won't put it in.

An option to avoid losing your inventory when your Astroneer is killed is already available in the game since November 2019: Play in Creative Mode with the setting "Invincible" enabled.

Instead of a map you have the compass which (since March 2021) always shows you the direction to your base and the nearest vehicle (except train cars or engines).

Creative Mode is a step too far I wish they added an option in the survival mode like a special add-on (requiring Iron, Silcone and Exo chips) that must be in your backpack at all times. You die you lose 1000-3000 bytes in exchange for not dropping items.

You can't pay then you lose items that is fair and in line with a survival game.

Or make it a mission based thing like the VTOL. An Astroneer Inventory insurance company mission

There is the Galastropods mission, in which you can obtain the space snail named "Princess" on planet Vesania. When fed, it prevents all forms of damage aside from suffocation.

Well, then it is a good thing that you are not required to use it. It's all about options, providing for different play styles, isn't it?

The snail doesn't sound hard enough to maintain the benefits. I like my idea.

to be honest i wish there an option to disable missions, it feels like a pain to play while ignoring them since you get a constant visual and auditorial reminder that they exist

Terraria has a keep inventory option to it's normal modes but that's based on it's difficulty option and you can still pick the expert and master worlds to play in. You just drop all your cash instead.

You ask for an option that is already in the game. It is just not in the exact form that another game offers. And apparently, you haven't even tried that option before comparing it with a different game. I'd say, under these premises the argument for implementing your idea in Astroneer is not very strong.

Besides, I don't get it why people want the same in every game.

I know what you mean. I would not call it a pain, but an inconvenience. However, I already suggested a more flexible customization of the game. I don't expect official mod support for Astroneer, because the developers already said that there won't be any. But I think something along my suggestion would be the next best thing, especially because it allows for a gradual implementation.

Did i say make it the same as Terraria no i just said Terraria has that as an option that doesn't compromise the difficulty of the game in the process. The snail is an option but it sucks that it isn't difficult to maintain or cost an arm and a leg to use.

Here's active cheats all the time is that fun no that just takes away any point of playing the game. Creative mode is not survival mode.

HIGH cost to make mid to late game resources (6-10 Exo chips)
Fueled by high amounts of bytes
doesn't stop you from dying at all
only benefit keep your inventory

how is that like any other game.
