I really hate that the Player Suit Customization is tied to online connection
Why aren't customization unlocks saved to the SAVE GAME itself?
Why is there a mandatory net check required to use them?

I have unlocked all of the suits and most of the colors, but I have very sporadic internet where I live. It's really frustrating to load up the game and discover all of my customization options are greyed out because I was playing offline, and that progress is tied to some kind of online check.

It's a major annoyance to make sure the internet connection is enabled and working properly and that steam is logged in and everything is online, just to get my custom suit for an OFFLINE game.

I just wanted to inform you that this is -NOT- an offline game. Even when you play "Solo" via the main menu, you are still physically running a multiplayer server and any of your steam friends can join you at any time without your permission and you don't even get a notification that they joined. It's how the game is coded currently.

Didn't realize that was the case! Sounds like it would make it easy for friends to troll each other...

I mean, I knew your game is always technically an online server, but didn't know friends could join without permission or even getting a message that they have.

Wouldn't be a bad thing if they saved your unlocks locally.

Yeah when I first bought astroneer I had added someone off the steam forums (that I won't mention) to friends list to offer them tech support with their computer and helped em fix a driver problem and then forgot I had them on my friends list and I was playing Astroneer one night and they joined and picked up my smelter and buried it in a hole at my base and threw my research stations down a cliff and left. I came back to base confused and then a few minutes later he messaged me all "Good luck finding your stuff in astroneer ROFL" ........... he's not a friend anymore. But yeah, that's totally a thing.

And also one of the reasons why I set my Steam presence to 'invisible'. Don't want people just dropping in on me
