Synthesize ammonium from nitrogen and hydrogen

Ammonium is made of Hydrogen and Nitrogen (NH4). Why not make it so that the chemical thingymadoodle used to make Hydrazine can also make Ammonium by combining 4 parts Hydrogen and 1 part Nitrogen. It would be very useful since people need to go to and from planets much more frequently now.
