Game doesn't start

I wanted to play the game again after alonger break. Directly after starting the game from steam launcher it loads the picture, you hear 2 seconds of the starting sound but then it instantly crashes back to desktop. No error message, no nothing, just CTD and that's it. What is wrong with the game? It's not EA anymore, fix this ASAP, devs.

I also don't know how to fix y game and have gone through way to many online youtube videos. But at least say "PLEASE" fix this devs. I realy love the game and haven't been able to play it in way to long.

same issue here did a full fresh reinstall multiple times no fix in sight

I contacted the support directly via email. Hopefully they know what they are doing. And regarding the PLEASE issue. I am a nice person, but if I pay for something, I want it to work. Hence, I get kind of pissed if a product suddenly stops working for no apparent reason...

Did you ever solve this issue? Saw the teaser for the newest update and it got me wanting to play again, but I'm having this same problem as well and haven't found a fix yet.

Oh hey there. Actually I contacted the support via email. They said that most of the CtD issues before the game even starts come from outdated mods and can be fixed with a full uninstall and reinstall. I thought I didn't even have mods but then it dawned on me that I infact used a minimap mod and this aparenty ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up starting the current version of the game. So either try complete reinstall and if this doesnt work contact the support directly via email.

Y'know that's probably it. It's been so long I thought I had deleted the mods but I probably never did. Guess I'm going mod hunting. Thanks for the tip!

did they say what might cause it if there's no mods involved?? i've gone through all my files for astroneer, have no mods, have uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times and it's still doing it. nothing is fixing it. i have no old saves in app data (that was a solution i saw elsewhere). everything that is related to astroneer is brand new files of the base game from the most recent installation on my computer

Hmm, that's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ then. Try to contact the support via e-mail. They will want to have your DirectX diagnostic file. Maybe another common problem with CtDs in astroneer is in directX...

Thank you so much!! Tip to others, uninstalling does not remove the MODs. After you uninstall go under c:/users/<username>/AppData/Local/Astro/ and delete the mod folder. Then reinstall the game.

i did this and still crashes on start up. works fine on the xbox game pass version
