Co-op friends not receiving progress from Exo Request event
The shipments didn't count for them every time we sent out the compound for some reason. And once I made it to the second part of the event, they stopped getting progress altogether. Even when we load it up with compound and one of them sends it out. (I can't because it expects aluminum from me)

We've tried everyone completely restarting the game, packaging/unpackaging exo request platform, waited a few hours to see if the servers just needed to catch up, etc.

They can't progress the event no matter what we do and we're just wasting resources by trying.

We had similar issues, although oddly enough, it's the host having the issue, I as co-op joiner had no issues. Said host has issues in single player as well, even if it's more sporadic then. An odd workaround we found is that is seems the containers don't always work - but the eight on the sides usually do, so more bytes per section, but more chances of progress being made.

I'm the host for Eagleteyes and here are some more details.
I don't remember any problems with compound. We both already had the skin from the compound task. We got two sets of care package rewards for it.
Aluminum mostly went OK. My status screen on the EXO Request platform had the wrong numbers, so we shredded it and printed a new one. Didn't help. We completed aluminum. We both got the copper palate. We got one care package.
Then we had a lot of problems with aluminum alloy. It would only let me place aluminum on the platform but not aluminum alloy. If Eagleteyes placed the aluminum alloy then either of us could launch it. We managed to complete aluminum alloy. She got the codpiece mono-cal but I didn't. We got one care package.
Then she did 80 pieces of astronium before we quit for the night. I couldn't even launch these.
Next day I played alone for a while. It showed I was much less than halfway to completing aluminum. So I launched several loads of aluminum. Most of them went ok, but one did not get me any credit. Eventually it said I had completed aluminum. No care package, and I already had the copper palate.
Then I started doing aluminum alloy. It ate two loads of 32 with no credit, but most of them went OK. Eventually I completed it, I got the codpiece mono-cal, I got a care package, and it changed to wanting astronium.
I saved and reloaded the game.
I did 80 astronium with no issues. We thought this put me and Eagleteyes at the same place in the event, so she rejoined me in the game. We launched another 40. She got credit for 40, I got credit for 8. We launched another 40. She got a care package, I got nothing (still had credit for only 8).
Then we had a power outage. After power came back, we were back to where I had not done any astonium.
I launched 40 again and only got credit for 8. I launched another 32 and got no additional credit.
So far this event has cost my base nearly double the amount of aluminum, more than double the amount of aluminum alloy, and 152 astrronium.

Update: With both of us in the world, now it was sometimes failing to count the container for both of us. After losing a few containers worth of astronium, we determined it depends on if the container is set to output or not. Setting the container to output works. The nugget on the output port won't be counted, but you get it back when the rocket returns. (So you can still get credit for 40 items per launch.)
I suspect that normally it doesn't matter which way the container is set (input or output). But sometimes in multii-player, that breaks for the host, guest, or both.
If it is broke for you, try making sure the containers are set to output.

SPOILERS
After collecting 5 care packages, there appears to only be two different packages. One is 1 beacon, 1 oxygen filter, 2 batteries, 2 packagers, and 2 dynamite. The other is 2 diamonds, 2 titanium alloys, 2 steel, and 2 graphine. Neither is worth 80 astronium.

For us, we didn't get any points for a fully loaded rocket after a point, are you saying that ONLY doing the ones on the side ended up being more consistent?

Thanks for the info, both of you. Hopefully I'll get my friends back on to try some more before the event ends!

The ones on the side appears to always work for us. But at 500 research points to turn in 8 resources, it can be research expensive. Try setting a container to output and see if that works first. If not, then I guess just use the sides - it will advance the event.
Another trick might be to duplicate your save and experiment. Then after you figure out a solution that works for you, you can go back to the old version and recover all the wasted items. (We were not smart enough to do this.)

I have the same issues on my server. My friends build the EXO platform and started sending cargo up, but it stopped showing progress for them with 160 compound to go on the first stage. Only I as the server admin/owner of the dedicated host could launch the rocket to see the next goals. They all have the launch button greyed out and says more cargo is required, even though they've sent up more than enough. So all the co-op work towards this goal may only reward me.
